just bring your foam pfd, if you set a hook in your inflatable one it might blow up! I guess there's fishing, just throw the pole in with the beer.

Msg to wannabees--get a kayak and get on the water! How come I've only seen one other Streamer w/ a kayak at any rally? Do I go to the wrong rallies? Come on!

Looking forward to trying out one of your kayaks at the Casini rally. Only been on one once before in Monterey Bay many years ago. Hope I don't make too much of a fool of my self on the water or damage your kayak too badly (sure hope it is bulletproof).

Another Yak

Here is a pic of the kayak I built last year. Sorry, no pics of it onboard but it rides on the pickup canopy.

Yea, it is a Redfish. Weighs 42#. The stand is just what I built it on. Have only used it in San Diego Bay but it seems seaworthy and fast. Joe's seats are the best in the business.

Funny how things change;
Got to the lake this morning and hooked up with David who is recovering from hand surgery . He asked to paddle together just to be safe, in case something happened with his hand. No problems. We thrashed thru 7 miles in about an hour and his hand was throbbing -big time.
We got back to the parking lot and he asked if I'ld like to try his Westside Thunderbolt. For sure, I was expecting something really twitchy but after a few minutes I was right at home. So I took off for a short run. No wonder this boat has a reputation for being extremely fast. believe me it is wicked fast!! Now what do I do,lol

Set a record for the old guys, Tim, and some of the younger ones, too! I know you can do it.

Is the Oru Kayak even to be taken serious as even a simple Kayak to use on calm ponds or lakes? The folding aspect sounds great and the price is reasonable, but I know nothing about Kayaks. Don't plan to race just float and would like to carry in my trailer or on my boat. Light weight is a plus. Seems well thought out for what it is, throw out your opinions won't hurt my feelings.

Jim;
If you go to Oru's facebook page you will get up to date info on what's happening with their kayak.To me it looks pretty good for what it is intended to do, no whitewater or stuff like that, I for sure would not bring anything with me that might puncture the skin, having said that, the skin probably is strong enough to remain intact in most scenario's.I'm gonna try to get to one of their show and tells.
There are a few inflatables out there that are nice, these are the "real" money ones, not the death defying crap you get at the box stores.

Kayak for Fishing?

Well it only seems logical (after reading this thread from beginning to end) that Airstreams and kayaks go hand-in-hand. Looking for advice on a good stable kayak for fishing lakes, rivers, and back bay areas. What brands, what features should I look for? I'm ok with the "sit on" style. How do you keep from losing all your equipment if it flips over? Any issues transporting on the top of an Avalanche? Thoughts? Thanks!
