For you West Coast kayakers, I love the [free download] WaveLength Magazine. You can subscribe, but it's a bit expensive for 4 issues a year.
The articles are top notch, about evenly divided between technique, locations, and equipment. It's obviously advertiser supported, but it's got more depth than any of the mag rack kayaker/canoe magazines.
Hard copies are free up in the northwest. I have no connection to them, but found a copy at the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend and have been downloading ever since.

Thanks Zep, Will look into it. Now can you find us an East Coast Version? We have to leave the beautiful Pacific Northwest. If any of you ever get the chance to paddle the San Juan Islands, I recommend you put that on your bucket list.
We are moving to South Carolina and look forward to some Atlantic Sea Kayaking. Should be fun driving 18 foot kayaks cross country. Wonder what our MPG will be.

I took two 17'+ Pygmys from Colorado to Port Townsend last August and it didn't put a noticeable dent in the MPG. 'Course, we were in a diesel truck towning the Caravel, so it's hard to notice a big change when you're already at 11.5mpg.

Coming home was no problem, Since I left PO'd It was a great homecoming, people were very kind, especially Airforums.
Not much Kayaking in Iraq though. One time last September, we saw a cloud and everybody was excited.
Not a jar head but I do love those guys. Go Army. East Coast here we come.

Getting ready for the summer. It's not even spring here, yet. Like, it snowed three times last week. Finished the take-apart wheels, so I just had to tow the Coho around the yard a bit. Next, get the varnish on.
The wheels are necessary for portage around Bowron Park, BC. I'm sure they'll come in handy other places. You can see the plans at Pygmy Kayaker. The one thing I learned towing it around the yard (with a couple of 3' burms) is that it's almost too short. I was thinking it was too tall. Duh.

We are picking up our Kayaks at the end of the month.
2 Nifty 430's. Hubby had the bulkhead adjusted to fit his long legs.
Yakima set up on top of our Trailblazer.
After a LONNNG winter we've finally managed to get out on our first trip of the year over the Victoria Day long weekend. In typically style, it's cold, blowy and threatening to snow again. Luckily the furnace and hot coffee are on:
We'll probably get the dry suits on later today and try to get the boats out, but I'll probably forgo the rolling practice until things warm up again
Meanwhile, after 2 months of working out logistics and imports, my new boat finally arrived!!!! A Greenland T by Tahe:
At 21" wide and 17' 9" long you'd be hard pressed to find a sleeker, sexier boat imho:
In addition to being pretty quick and nimble, it's an absolute dream to roll - which was a good thing as I found myself dangling upside down in open water about 15 minutes into its maiden voyage
Tahe's are pretty nice boats. The mini 14 is what the fast petite ladies paddle in this area.
So here'e my Eppie's Great Race update.
We kept the same team and were in the same division- Men's over 50, the other 2 guys are in their 50's, me 60. Any way we did a repeat and won our division again. We climbed a few spots in overall up to 29th of 1162 bibs. our sole man was pickin them up and putting them down for a good time, pedal power had the 12th fastest time of the event for his ride- me 26th paddler. everything in front of me was a Huki or a tandem canoe or kayak. So I'll be building my PAX 20 for next years event, hopefully we can get into the top 20. that would be nice.

We've met a few other 'yakers since we've got ours last year, but this was the first Klepper other than ours we've come across - this fellow has had his (the blue one) for over 20 years; our orange one is just behind his.
Also saw this osprey on one of the islands just east of the marina.

Yay! Managed to pack a ton of stuff into the Pygmies and see what touring could really be like. Had to cut the trip short due to the heavy smoke from forest fires, but the first couple days were spectacular. Most of the time the lakes were like glass. More on Bowron Lake at PygmyKayaker.
Here's the Argosy, the Odyssey, my Valley Avocet RM, and my wife's P&H Scorpio LV on Graves Island Provincial Park, Nova Scotia. (Lovely campsite with 180 degree ocean views.)
