i suspect it is only going to get worse,as less used units are on the market because of the new trailer sales slump over the last several years.now that they havent made the ford excursion since 2005,i constantly get asked if my 2005 ltd diesel is for sale.most people want to buy,but coming up with the cash or financing is the problem.most people that stop to talk about the airstream are wannabees that cant pull the trigger, due to sticker shock.no matter what trailers or motorhomes are in a campground the airstream seems to attract the most attention.also get alot of inquires about the hensley.i dont talk $s about any thing related to truck ,hitching or airstream.once you hit 20k most people are over budget on the whole deal.

When people of any asking form come around --and I am in that particular mood (bad)--I will say something like 'This is a movie, and I do not see you written in the script'...sorry!

I have stopped on occassion to introduce myself as an Airstream owner and enthusiast and have inquired about their Airstream. Once you get a feel from that you either move on or get a friendly tour. But in my case I don't even want to buy it I just want to say hi and see it. Is that worse or better?

I get asked everytime I'm outside. Today I quoted $20,000 for my 67 Safari and almost got it.I'll have to start higher next time. I try to keep at least 1 around that is for sale and have sold 7 so far. It's a great way to pay for the ones I want to keep.

So, Bob, you have to move the Airstream to get the Ford to the street?
Neil.

I haven't had anyone knock but I did ask our neighbor who has one before I got mine. A 26 ft 70's in great shape "well the outside" He told me his daughter wanted it then about 6 months after I bought mine he wanted to sell it to me. I might still buy it some day. And then just 1/4 mile down the road in a 16 footer. But then we live on the back road in the country so no one sees them but the neighbors. Love it that way.

I've even been approached in campgrounds by SOB owners asking if I would sell it.

Neil.

Hi, Neil. Yes, I have to move my trailer to get the Galaxie out; That is why it hasn't been out since we bought our trailer. [almost six years now] Not to mention, no place to put them all [my small fleet] when it's street cleaner day. The big plan was to sell this house and buy a big piece of dirt [with a small house] in Oregon or Washington so I wouldn't have this problem, But the market started sliding down hill about two weeks after we listed our house.

Bob, my question is this: if the Airstream won't fit through the gate, how do you get the car through the gate?

I guess that is more "secret" stuff that amounts to levitation or something, huh?

Hi, come on Mate, you know my car isn't nearly as wide as my trailer. This is from the back side and with my trailer and other cars out of the driveway the car will fit through the gate, but it's still a pretty tight fit.

Hi, Joe. Absolutely not; The Galaxie has a very strong over built receiver welded on it. And I have towed a small camper trailer with it, but the car has the small 292 cu in. V-8 engine, a Ford Powerglide, [all aluminum 2 speed automatic trans] and the original brake drums machined out to .135" over. The brakes heat up and fade out very quickly. Not enough gears, and not enough power. So Airstreaming is out of the question for this car.

Note: before I get slammed, I jokingly call the Ford aluminum 2 speed a Ford Powerglide.

Also, I did tow this camper with my Galaxie from California, to Canada, to Montana and back in nine days and 4,000 miles.
