Well, let's see....

Maybe we could have a "click for an Air discount coupon for $1 off a six pack of" (Budweiser Monday, Coors Tuesday, Miller Wednesday, etc) ad series. Any takers?

Yep, y'all are right the American system sucks, America is the big evil empire with the corrupt government that can't do anything right. What was I thinking?????? It is everyone else who has such a superior system of health care and government. Democracy (representative republic), capitalism, competition, free market all suck. Forget what I said earlier, we suck.

To the Canadians, I'm sorry I called your health system bad. That was unfair, I'm sure it isn't bad. If our government does decide to have a government run system I have little doubt the Canadian system will become much better than the American one.

The next time I go wait at the VA for 10 hours to see a doctor....ummm...I mean maybe see a doctor I'll keep reminding myself what a good job government does managing health care (this is of course as I watch and see the pitiful conditions and subpar care being given, check out the rate of infection in VA's vs private care facilities). I won't start listing reams of facts as last time that happened I was told to stop (awful things facts). Most wouldn't even consider us middle class but somehow we manage to provide quality healthcare for our family without asking someone else to do it for us (awful concept : self reliance). We have a medical savings account and insurance to cover any catastrophic events beyond that.

People keep thinking that when the government runs health care it will be free and at least as good as it is now or better. This makes me laugh really hard, when has this ever happened. Well when the government run, taxpayer financed system is in place and your waiting in the queue behind 47 runny noses, 32 scratches and 7 stubbed toes (not to mention the really sick people) you keep reminding yourself how great the government is at managing health care. But hey you should be more comfortable because your wallet will be thinner due to all the taxes taken out of your check before you get yours, so that's something there.

i interpreted the initial comment about hoser health care as a joke...

then someone took the baited (mossy) reply, which is only partially accurate and we are off!

see it ISN'T the political ads (or match-com ads) that aren't ok,

it's the poisoned POSTS that follow them.

u guys have spent too much time watching flicks made by a fat smoker from meescheegan...

the cuban infant mortality rate is low because...

1. late term abortion has long been used to eliminate 'risky' pregnancies or potentially defective children....
2. their reporting methods on ALL public health stats are suspicious or total fabrications.

YES cuba has a a high ratio of doctors to people, so does italy and many old european block countries...

BUT, it turns out having LOTS of docs isn't so good (even in the usa)

-the average cuban doc is paid ~20$ in pesos monthly via the gov. system...
-so like in italy and france, MANY of the sharper trained docs DO SOMETHING ELSE,
-like work as waiters or in the tourism sector or anything other than medicine.
-and many cuban docs accept and encourage payments FROM THE PATIENT, under the old, dirty table.

( so it remains true world wide, folks with MORE $$$ can buy MORE medical care and advances in all countries...)

and cuba has contracted some of the (better) medical talent to other countries, like venezuela for OIL.

aspirin, simple drugs like penicillin and bandages are virtually non existent except on the black market.

what cuba DOES have going for it is a LACK of western vices, LOTS of poverty and a basically rural existence....

thin, poor rural people who can just BARELY eek out a life, generally LIVE LONGER....

and the cuban per-capita spending is very very low on health care, so they do get a lot out of very little...

preventive services are pretty good in cuba and NO ONE can opt 'out' of basic public health things...

like vaccines or the child immunization program

a cuban cannot exactly OBJECT to government mandated public health measures, like folks can/do here.

also cubans tend NOT to be very fat or drive cars like US...

but don't trust the data (or moore) unless you've been INSIDE their system first hand.

for years thailand had a ZERO for case reports of hiv/aids...

in other words it appeared that they had almost NO hiv/aids, while the rest of the world had a viral explosion.

turns out the thailand approach to finding/classing and reporting hiv was being done creatively....

and when the score (data) was properly kept, OVERNIGHT the hiv rate was world class high!

accepting health care data from the cuba ministry is like accepting n. korea data on bombs...

and the cubans don't report what they don't LOOK for in terms of health issues.

i could go on for pages about accurate health data on cuba or canada OR the usa...

but this may be the only sure thing...

1. cubans who move to canada can travel to the usa 4 american health care...
2. canadians who move to cuba can still get canadian health care...
3. americans who move to canada...can VISIT cuba and get cigars!

Nothing, too bad that isn't what would happen. What I believe would happen is that every American would have access to healthcare but it probably wouldn't be worth having. I also suspect people with the means will continue to pay for quality health care. That is until it's banned like the wonderful Cuban government did in order to obtain their superior health care system.

So, let me see if I understand... they all are lying and we all are wrong and I am especially miss informed due to listening to some guy who I have been smoking something with, someone named Mitch? And he is fat not like Cubans who drive less cars but tend to be older cars driven by late term abortions that Canadians come to America to smoke? Wow, I am very confused now, sure hope this thread dies soon so I can dedicate my foolishness someplace else.

Well... I don't want to add to the argument here on healthcare and who does or doesn't have the best... something more important came to my attention yesterday that IS in line with the original intent of the thread and highly revelent...

I just noticed the biker chick for the first time and IMHO, she is scads better looking than the dating service one and has better make-up. So... like do we have a choice here?

A. Biker Chick
B. Dating Service Gal
C. Beer ads
D. Cuban Cigars

She's got bucky beaver teeth.

He said he was assigned to a four-block neighborhood in Havana Province where he was supposed to care for about 600 people.

“But even if I diagnosed something simple...,” he said, “I couldn’t write a prescription for antibiotics, because there were none.”

...Having practiced medicine in both Cuba and the United States, Dr. Cordova has an unusual perspective for comparison.

“Actually there are three systems,” Dr. Cordova said, because Cuba has two: one is for party officials and foreigners like those Mr. Moore brought to Havana. “It is as good as this one here, with all the resources, the best doctors, the best medicines, and nobody pays a cent,” he said.

But for the 11 million ordinary Cubans, hospitals are often ill equipped and patients “have to bring their own food, soap, sheets — they have to bring everything.” And up to 20,000 Cuban doctors may be working in Venezuela, creating a shortage in Cuba.

Until he had to have emergency surgery last year, Fidel Castro — who turned 80 this year — was considered a model of vibrant long life in Cuba. But it was only last week that he acknowledged in an open letter that his initial surgery by Cuban doctors had been botched. He did not confirm, however, that a specialist had been flown in from Spain last December to help set things right.

I have to chime in - I LOVE Biker chick!

Not for the obvious reason of course. It's because she helps me stick to my diet! She's sort of like the picture of a fab body that you'd stick onto the fridge to prevent unnecessary snacking.

All the other ads are usually ignored.

OK, so really...where do we draw the line. Now we have a banner ad for "Sexy Jesus". Come on guys, one of the reasons I hang around here is so I have to put up with trash like that.

And that is exactly what it is --TRASH.

Can somebody please do just a little editing of the ads that run here?

The reason I am a no longer a paying member here is that I feel you have to decided how you are going to make your money do you want to run ads to generate your revenue or do your want to sell memberships but to have it both ways doesn’t work for me. I don't know if a new membership level is available which will cut out the ads but that should be an option. I am a member of a couple of other boards which I pay a membership fee for and get no adds and a nice magazine every quarter for close to the same cost of what was being asked for a membership here. I am not easily offended but when the ads start offending the users for what ever reason it is time to take a close look at what is being pushed to the site. Many users take sex and religion very serious and can be offended, as for as I am concerned I am desensitized.

I said paying not supporting because I am supporting by dealing with the ads.

We have a local retailer with that same type of gas pump. At least they offer you the opportunity to turn it off so you don't have to listen ANOTHER advert while performing the simple task of pumping gas.

I don't want to give anybody the impression that I am some type of prude or "bible thumper". I certainly am not. BUT, there are limits. This site has been very well managed by the staff here for the last 4 or so years that I've been around here. I enjoy it very much. I just don't understand why THIS place has to sink to levels of "garbage" TV.

Can't we maintain a higher standard here? I'd like to think that the things and people I'm associated with in my life won't resort to the least common denominator at every occasion.

Please post screen shots!

Y'know I've got nothing to go on here. McCain ad? One person saw it that I know. I've never seen bikerchick but that one seems more commonly reported. Sexy Jesus? Got a screen shot? That gives us something tangible to work from.

See! Dangling prepositions will never get complained about.
