Ganglin. Your input is well received. I'm sure you see lots of preventable occurances. Having said that I am more concerned with my furnace that is located under the stove! When I have my new soapstone direct vent in place I plan on using it only while I am in the immediate area. Safety is always concern #1. How many fire extinguishers are in your rig, 3 for me, RS Tim

I believe the AS is for camping. The campfire should be your focus.

ouch the smoke must be getting thick in Hangtown tonight. I just hate sitting by the campfire in the rain or snow. And can you imagine getting the marshmallows flaming inside the AS and having to launch them thru the hatch Yee ha

Hi Neil,
Without a doubt, I'd want to sit around a flaming campfire outside my AS..I was just looking for inside alternatives to replicate that flaming view, 'tis all..like anything else, there's always differing opinions as has been offered and appreciated on this discussion.

Ganglin; I'm on the safety side with you, guess we just differ on our ideas of what safe is. Depends on what the definition of is is. Loosen up enjoy campin and tilt back a cold one. Been nice exchanging ideas. Respectfully Submitted.. Tim

Yup, the smoke is thick up here but you in the valley have it worse. How about for dem marshmellows we place a patio/deck fire pit in the AS. We would have to place it under a Fantastic Fan of course. And when the snow and rain abates we can carry that fire pit and smores outside and bundle up under the stars....if the clouds part.
Neil.

The benefits are that it runs off of 110VAC, and you can have the fire on without the heat if it's just the ambience you are looking for! You can even adjust the speed of the flame flickers to really set the mood. Did I mention that it comes with a remote control? It also requires no hole cutting in your shell as it needs no vent.

Hi Ben,
Yes, the flames and ambience is definitely what I'm looking for!..thnx for the info.

What about this for a safe fire? Nothing to vent, no worries about flames spreading...

Hi Mel,
Funny you should offer this!..I went and used my dig camera and videoed a glowing fire in a fireplace last Christmas that was being broadcased on t.v. as well as the campfire last time we went camping w/our Safari..
Since we're also on the issue of safety, I wanted to ask to see if any of you have either or both Smoke/carbon monoxide alarms and burgurlar alarms in you AS?

Munimula has 3 fire extinguishers, 1 smoke detector, 1 lp leak detector, 1 low tire detector and trust me no one would want to break into my trailer. The result would be very unpleasant. Worse than an unmanaged lp device exploding. In reference to last pm events, You decide on a stove yet, how about a sterno fondu pot gone awry. Tim

Hi Tim,
This morning, I started a thread "for safety" about smoke alarms and burgular alarms..I think "it's a Good Thing" , as Martha S would spout..
The LP and low tire detector sounds like a winner too..thnx for the input..
