I just saw an add for this '62 near Eugene, OR. I don't know anything about it, but might be a good project.

RARE & DESIRABLE 1962 AIRSTREAM FOR SALE!

Info:
• This is a 1962 Airstream, 22 feet long, last registered in 1997 and the vehicle identification number (VIN) is 22D880660.
• (VIN) 22D880660 - decoded this would be:
o 1962 Flying Cloud 22'
o Double bed model
o Made in California and it was the 30th 22 foot model made in 1962 of the 245 made within the year.
o California | 22 D SS 0630 to 22 D SS 0875 (the 88s in the VIN from the state were really SS originally).
• No rust to speak of, rivets are tight, glass & screen in tact, no leaks (currently used as storage.
• This trailer is already gutted and ready to be your summer project!

According to a renowned Airstream enthusiast – “The older, smaller units (like yours) are desirable by many who would want to refurbish!! My guess is that you could sell it for around $2500 as it is now. Probably $12,000 to $17,000 once restored for this year and model.”

Could be a fun and PROFITABLE for someone!!!

** May consider trade for solid, good condition, excellent working Ford 9N tractor **

The seller needs some education regarding the definition of the word "profit"

Spending $20k+ on a trailer to then sell it for "$12k to $17k" does not net any profit.

At least it is already painted that desirable pink.

I know we've all seen ones that are probably in $500-$1K as-found at best condition, and the seller is asking $5K and always says something like, "a spit-shine and some new tires and this baby could be sold for $15K!"

Sadly, I think some people fall for this. I might have if I hadn't stumbled across this forum many months ago and began educating myself.

So, thanks everybody! You have probably saved me from a $4K-$5K mistake.

(Although you've also probably doomed me to a $30K, 3-year-long, labor of love! )

You were doomed when you first saw that aluminum... now you just know what you're in for up front.

Wow...I'll bet the frame is still good and maybe the axles. Not sure what else would be salvagable?

Since it looks like it rolled, I wouldn't expect the frame to be unscathed. It could likely be pulled back into alignment though, but not worth the money the guy is asking.
