I'm looking for a few insurance company recommendations. I just bought a 97 30' Excella and of course need to insure it. My "default" insurance co would probably be Progressive but I know there is cheaper insurance to be had with an equal level of customer service.
Thanks,

I don't know that the coverage would be any cheaper, but I have been extremely well pleased with the coverage that I have through Foremost. My initial insurer with my Overlander was American Family - - they provided excellent coverage, but when I had a claim for some minor skin damage there would have been major problems were it not for the intervention of the knowledgeable Airstream dealer who performed my repairs. I have not had any claims since switching to Foremost almost six years ago, but since they are obviously familiar with Airstreams I am more confident that there won't be as many questions about the appropriate repair methods.

Progressive is one of the best insurance companies in California.
Should your trailer become damaged, they are very easy to work with.
Foremost on the other hand, is OK, if you don't mind them depreciating sheetmetal!!!!! Say What????? How do you establich a life expectancy, on Airstream sheetmetal.
You can't, but they do it regardless.
At today's sheetmetal prices, you could wind up paying far more than just your deductable.
once i realized foremost was part of the 'farmers familiy' i cooled on them....several not very good experiences with farmers over the last 30 years....early on with auto and later with home owners....i'll never buy farmers again. so then the bids came in and it was easy.....progressive was several hundred dollars less than farmers (i mean foremost) and over 1500$ less than good sams (which is really general motors, national general) for a new trailer...and the replacement cost option. i was hoping good sams would make it because my first airstream was with them and they were great.
looked over the policy and progressive has really tailored their rv insurance. looks like they have addressed all the issue rv'ers or full timers might have. the price for 1 year was half that of than anyone else.
i don't know how easy they are to deal with on claims and they were not competive on the t.v. so i'll stay with a.i.g. for my cars and trucks...they are really great on price and exceptional on claims service.
Stick around and you'll really enjoy the forum. Many have a really good sense of humor.

Rocklin, hummm, is that anywhere near Haywood, Ca.? But seriously. You’ll find that most folks here are a real good bunch. They can at times be vicious, cruel, kool, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean & reverent. Wait until Norby (the former priest or nun or playboy photographer, or something) gets ’hold of you. This guy is a real scream. If you want a challenge in proper English language spelling/grammar/vernacular usage, go read some of Canny Banjo Man’s posts. He is a Brit that posts from time to time and spells like he speaks. It can give you a headache trying to decipher some of the words, but this dude is hilarious.
If you want information, you’ve come the right place. If want entertainment, you’re there. If you want (or need) to be insulted, fasten your seatbelt.
As to the insurance question…We use USAA, but that’s a different story. We’ve only had our ’Stream since October.
Good luck, and keep your *&$%^ head down.

I've been very happy with State Farm. Got all vehicles and real estate with them. Rates are very good for the cars, tolerable with the real estate and Airstream. Claims for the real estate and cars have always been top notch in terms of service and quality of work done.
I have yet (thankfully) had to make a claim for the Safari. I am somewhat uncomfortable with the thought of an RV claim since unlike autos, State Farm seems to treat the RV as a raw number. It appears to me that they (State Farm) have very little understanding or exp with RVs in general. I could be wrong. I would welcome any insurance company (quality one) that could get it to me for less than the $400/year I am currently paying or the Safari. I've called a number of places about a year ago and $400 seems like some magic number once I tell them what I paid for the Safari....
