I'm glad I don't live on the Chesapeake Bay anymore. But wait, we just had a 7.7 earthquake a couple hundreds miles away!

More like 550 miles away.

(Assuming you are in Woodinville now and not northern BC or southern Alaska.)

Ken

I lived in the Seattle area for 50 years. You will get earthquakes closer than that sooner or later.

Moderately Crappy in Virginia Beach

BUT it's off shore and running parallel to the shore right now. Turn west into the NJ Notch and it's going to be MISERABLE, plus the wind speed went up from 75mph to 90mph. This is a big storm and though the worst was supposed to be over at high tide (9:30 am) the wind direction is now changing so flooding zones will move, and trees that have torn up roots on their north sides will now have wind strain coming from the south and west. The wind will hang around for another 24 hours at least. I moved mine off the campground and put it on the parking lot behind out business. So far it's fine.

If you can move your Airstream WAY west I'd do it. Altoona or Pittsburgh would be good. The trees that are going to come down and flying debris could put some nasty scars on the Airstream, though flipping it is less likely than an SOB.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is closed to trailers, motorcycles, semis. Only passenger cars, SUV's and non-commercial trucks may cross.

Good luck and seriously consider hauling airstream!

Paula

Winds are really howling and rain is heavy at this time. We still have power and cable but other areas are already without. Biggest problems is flooding in waterfront areas with two more high tides coming before storm lets up any. Bays will not be able to receed enough to prevent serious storm surge flooding. Long Beach Island roads are flooded from what we have heard. All waterfront areas in our town and those north and south of us all under mandatory evacuation. Access roads to those areas are flooded with the main wall of the storm still several hours away. We're praying for all in the storms path.

I have been full-timing in my Airstream since this summer while working in the DC area. I think I am in the "Liquor Store" zone.

Good luck to all of you in the storm path. It looks like a monster. We are feeling some of the effects here with high winds and flood warnings.

Depending who you talk to the wrose flooding is either over or yet to come. I pray that it is over because it is the worse I have seen since we moved here 7 years ago and may according to some be the worst Ocean Pines has experienced. Our biggest concern now is the wind and the wet ground. gust have been up to 90 miles an hour in Ocena City Md and probably close to sixty here at times. With the soft ground and the wind makes ideal conditions for tress to fall.

Reporting from the Mid Hudson Valley region of NY, we have had wind gusts all day Monday, increasing rain as nightfall sets. I have a 70 ft tall pine tree close to my parking spot in my backyard, so felt better parking it alongside my house in the driveway. So far, so good. Hope all Airstreamers get through this storm without incident.

I moved our Spartan about 80 feet west so it's close to the house and hopefully out of reach of the trees. Already had one camper hit by a tree 4 years ago, and don't want to go through that again!

My daughter in Brooklyn still has power, but it's flickering.

The amount of water in NYC right now seems almost apocalyptic, and it's not over yet.

A couple hundred miles from the coast, so little rain and no flooding. Windy, and the weather radar shows snow about 30 miles away.
Now that it's been classed not a hurricane, how about a snowicane?

Hey Terry, I don't suppose we'll be hearing a lot from anyone north of Virginia until the power comes back on. It must be miserable - I just hope no one got their Airstream flooded or damaged by wind & debris.

My niece's husband (lineman) was sent from Ohio to NJ two days ago to help respond to the downed lines. Somehow I think he'll be there for a long haul.

15-20 foot waves crashing through our breakwalls near Cleveland Ohio. My son's former school and our water plant both lost their roofs.

Crazy days!

Damage to your water plant? Looks like there will be a "boil order" in effect for your municipal water, once they restore communications well enough to get the word out. Aren't you glad you had the foresight to fill your freshwater tank in your Airstream before the storm? You did have the foresight, right?
