Impulse buy!!

My wife and I had an impulse buy over the weekend! We bought a 29' - 1989 Airstream Excella over the weekend. Has twin beds in rear/center bath. We really like the layout. We originally saw the floor plan at the Dogwoods and Bluegrass Rally 2010 (Loudruffs trailer - thanks Lou for showing us your trailer at the Rally - we just had find one for ourselves). It will need some work like they all do that's part of the fun for me (axles, tires, and a sagging tank issue will be the initial fun).
Within the next two week you will see a 22' - 1981 Excella II come up for sale so if you know anybody looking for a trailer.......btw - this trailer has been 95% refurbished and is absolutely ready for the road - details to follow (I hate the thought of selling it for all the time, effort and MONEY I have poured into it).

Wow - congrats! There are worse impulse buys out there, and I think you did great on this one. Good luck with the new repairs.

Congrats on the new AS....

Sure can't keep the 22' and join the rest of the multiple trailer households?

Wow, you will like the rear twins. We have a rear queen / side bath in our 1974 31'.
I quite often do impulse things like this when my wife is NOT around.
Sounds as if someone will soon own a sweet 22' .
I suppose a person should never count up the hours put into one of these coaches - just the enjoyment of seeing your labours turn into something positive.
Do hang a nice picture of your 22' up in your new 29' before you see the back end of it heading down the road!!
Enjoy,
Bob

fantastic find

Wow, Steve and Christy,
Looks like a really good impulse find! You will love it. We love ours. So convenient to have that extra room and those nice dedicated beds. The bigger tanks are great too!
Hope to see you down the road so we can get a closer look!

Wow, great impulse buy! I think my last 4 Airstreams were inpulse buys! I tend to shop on ebay when I get bored. And is there anything besides Airstreams to look at???

Steve and Christy,
Wow! You went from thinking about it to doing it FAST!! Congratulations that is a nice looking trailer. I know you will enjoy the larger space with a growing family. Can't wait to see it at the next DandB Rally.

Congrats! Love the Wagoneer, too. Grew up in them, my dad was in real estate. I keep one around just for kicks...

Best Regards,

Congrats! That's a nice floorplan.

As for the 81, if we didn't have the Minuet...

Now WAIT...

Surely you're not planning to sell the little one until the work on the big one is complete? You MUST have something to camp in while working on the Impulse Buy! And of course the more weekends you go camping the less you'll get done on the new one.

Seriously if you need axles and have tank issues, the Impulse Buy isn't roadworthy. So there's your excuse for hanging on at least a little longer.

Yep, impulse buys can be bad sometimes - it sort of changes some things I had planned to do around the house - I can do the 'house/yard' things in a couple weeks.
I want to get the small trailer on the market since were still early enough in the camping season.
As for getting the other trailer ready for the road - axles are easy. They will take about a week to order in and an afternoon to install. The tank issue is one that will probably take a few evenings afterwork. I'll be certain to post some of those "fun" pictures.
