I'm Drinking To...
OKAY... SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS...YOU..
Yesterday, I saw my baby heading down the road without me..On her first trip in years~`
SOLD the 64GT and, even tho my packet is filled with cash..I feel my guts being wrenched out..
Have you ever had that feeling before???
It was...hard to do but, the new owner's are a fantastic couple. who were looking for a new (to them) Airstream`....
Thinking back...I'm just a caretaker for the future..In that, I completed my obligation...STILL, it's hard`! to let go..
EXCUSE ME WHILE...
I will have a few glasses of RUM to fill in the empty spots..
YOU GOT THE IDEA...

53,
I haven't had to part with an Airstream...yet (nobody wants my junk ) but I have sold a few cars that I really didn't want to part with. BTW try and save some of that filthy lucre...don't spend it all on Rum

Hi Vernon
OMG! You sold it? OMG.....
I remember you telling me about the PO who had taken 1/2 of a samsonite suitcase and covered the old vent over with it. You must have taken off 30lbs of silicone caulk to get that "repair" fixed.
Polishing 2 of them just too much work? Or is the 29 footer just that much more comfortable?
I'll raise a glass of coffee to you (WAY too early for Capt. Morgan's!) and wish you a speedy recovery. I've kept my 22ft CCD - sister and niece have visited, but it is a rather pricy "guest house". I'll probably sell it sooner or later.
Wish you a speedy recovery and I recommend that you get out in the other one as a method of recovering. Sending you some "recovery" karma.
Paula

53FlyingCloud,
I echo Foiled Again's "wishing you a speedy recovery." Thinking about how you restored an Airstream to life and how happy you made a fanastic couple should help.

I feel for ya, buddy. I wish I could've taken the GT off your hands, myself. It was a gem, for sure.
You're going through too many changes all at once! retirement...selling a house...giving up an A/S...and now, moving to MO????? oh, my. You gotta slow down, dude!!

A very sad day, yes. It is also a good day as the GT has a new loving home, and yet another person will fall victim to aluminitis. We may even gain a new Forum member.

I know how you feel. You did the right thing though. Now the people who can't do what you did are going to put miles and memories in the book and you made it possible. Because of your work years from now a new keeper will be buying it from them and building a new set of memories. All because you made it possible. Well done.

Hermannan (or Hermann as we spell it around here) is a lovely little river town fronting on the Missouri with the Gasconade River a short walk from the city limits. There are a couple of good wineries in town and many more (and better IMHO) within an hour's drive.
Sorry for your loss . . . but it's also a beginning.
Welcome to MO

I will let everyone in on a secret..The 64GT is..nearing it's final stage of total off frame restorations..I will check with the owner and, see if he would mind my putting a link on here to his website.. Beyond that, I don't want to steal "his thunder"..Except to say: It's as good as new..
ciao
