the ise in Atlanta caused a 6 foot limb with branches to drop about 5 feet from my Motorhome.Phew, that was close!
The canopy I have over it got weighted down with ice so much I had to go out with a ladder and bust the pieces untilt they slid off it It was fun dodging sliding chunks of ice an inch or more thick with nice sharp edges.
Then on Sunday it went up to 45 degrees, and I had to get out the chain saw to clean up. Not much work done this weekend.

Ice vs Snow

That's the bad part of living in this area. If the weather gets bad, it is usually ice and not the fun stuff. Chattanooga didn't get hit as hard as Atlanta. Glad to know ya'll made it through! Hey, maybe we'll get snow in February! One can only hope!

I think it's funny that down south that's a national event. Just part of a regualr winter up here.

Its where you live. I'm from Detroit so I know what you are use to. 6 inches there is a "dusting" 6 inches here is a major event and more then our average for the year.

We also get BAD ice storms about every 5 years. Down here we have a LOT of 70-90ft pine trees. They don't like Ice. a year ago I had 14 such pines removed. The smallest was 18 inches at the base. I had a couple over 30 inches. That was in a 1/2 acre lot and I still have plenty of lawn. Pine trees are like weeds here.

We had 59,000 people without power over the weekend to give you an idea and this was not too bad this time. I have seen whole forests laying on their side from storms like these.

Jim

I SO HIGHLY recommend Irfanview

do a google or Yahoo search for it; it's a free download. I have tried many things, and it's my favorite!

Don't bother to look for it.. I have the address:

http://www.tucows.com/preview/194967.html

Irfanview is very user-friendly, and I have been using it for about five years now.

Snow and Ice

Looks like what my brother and I went through going from Kansas to Southern Texas before Christmas. About a 1/2 inch of ice on everything - from Kansas/Oklahoma border all the way to Waco Texas... then to wake up Christmas Morning at the camp grounds in Corpus Christie with 4 to 6 inches of snow... We went camping in December to leave the snow and go south... it was warmer in Kansas than Texas.
