Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately, we don't have any if the programs you mentioned on any of our machines (one Win 98 and two XP machines). I'll keep searching. At least, we don't have a program that will allow "resizing".

We got lucky here on the south side. Only lost power for about 10 minutes yesterday afternoon. Lots of power drops/surges, but only 10 minutes outage.

As usual, lots of great ideas. I love this forum. Everybody stay warm!

Jim

Great ice pics! Here are a couple of options you can get for picure resizing.
https://www.hamrick.com/reg.html
Down load Vueprint for about $50 This is what I use to look at and resize my photos.
OR
Go to Download.com
http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0....iew&tg=dl-2001
Download Lview Pro 2004. They have a free trial version. This works well but is not as easy to use as Vueprint.
Good Luck. PM me is you need more info?

In Washington State OLD MAN WINTER hit us in Jan 2003 we had the same kind of ice, you are having. Every 5 seconds trees were snapping. Take care Hippo.

I live about 25 miles north of 59toaster and we got the same thing. At least he ventured outside to take photos. I opened the door and let the dog go out on his own. He was funny. Even the grass was frozen and he was having trouble walking on it. It was like walking on top of a pin cushion. My kids thought the frozen rain was snow and wanted to go out and play in it. Neighbor lost a pine limb, but we lucked out and lost no limbs for a change.

Yes, about 59,000 folks in metro-Atlanta were without power at one time over the week end. One of my co-workers from Henry county was without power from yesterday morning 'til 9:00 pm last night. Another from in-town Atlanta still didn't have power this morning.

Pretty, but pretty inconvenient if you live on one of the in-town tree lined streets without underground utilities. I can just imagine how long it will be for those folks to get their cable back on...thank goodness for Direct-tv!

Today, in school, 8th graders: about 9:30 a dense snow began to fall, straight down, no drift, like a snow globe held upside down. Kids went crazy-just knew school was within minutes of getting called. The snow fell and fell, covered the ground. . .beautiful! And then it was gone. Melted, just like that! No snow day. Sad kids. Saved another day for spring break! Gleeful me

the ise in Atlanta caused a 6 foot limb with branches to drop about 5 feet from my Motorhome.Phew, that was close!
The canopy I have over it got weighted down with ice so much I had to go out with a ladder and bust the pieces untilt they slid off it It was fun dodging sliding chunks of ice an inch or more thick with nice sharp edges.
Then on Sunday it went up to 45 degrees, and I had to get out the chain saw to clean up. Not much work done this weekend.

Ice vs Snow

That's the bad part of living in this area. If the weather gets bad, it is usually ice and not the fun stuff. Chattanooga didn't get hit as hard as Atlanta. Glad to know ya'll made it through! Hey, maybe we'll get snow in February! One can only hope!

I think it's funny that down south that's a national event. Just part of a regualr winter up here.

Its where you live. I'm from Detroit so I know what you are use to. 6 inches there is a "dusting" 6 inches here is a major event and more then our average for the year.

We also get BAD ice storms about every 5 years. Down here we have a LOT of 70-90ft pine trees. They don't like Ice. a year ago I had 14 such pines removed. The smallest was 18 inches at the base. I had a couple over 30 inches. That was in a 1/2 acre lot and I still have plenty of lawn. Pine trees are like weeds here.

We had 59,000 people without power over the weekend to give you an idea and this was not too bad this time. I have seen whole forests laying on their side from storms like these.
