Had some cocktails tonight!
I thought about it ... but that was all!
I was actually thinking that I was NOT experiencing any urges. Why do I not have an urge to smoke? Was it because I was out to dinner with my wife and kid? Maybe.
Maybe it's when I'm at the bar with my friends that I become my stupidest. I haven't tried it out yet and I'm not sure I'm quite ready to take that step either. As a matter of fact, I actually declined to go out with the crew last Friday night and I didn't know at the time why I was declining ...

Hey Don,stay strong. One step at a time. There are all kinds of tempting situations that will come up.So far I've tried not to put myself in those situations although sometimes it cannot be helped.
The worst for a lot of people is when they are having a drink. In some sort of way it just seems natural although nothing could be further from the truth.
Also think about the 24 days you have already conquered. It would be senseless to throw that all away and have to start over.
You know that GC and I are pulling for you. You're doing great.

Well we (my wife) had our second child Mar 3 05. So since I turned 39 a few days after he was born..my health became a larger issue in the big picture...carrying a few extra pounds still....but blood pressure is NORMAL!!! Just hang in there...know what triggers an urge... and dont do that. You can beat em..

Hey suz, nice of you to think of us. Have a big chunk of karma.
I can only speak for myself as to why there has not been any recent updates on this thread. It was very exciting deciding to quit and then getting through the first hours and then the first day. Then the challenge was to get through Day 2,then Day 3 and so on.Then it was the first week, week 2 and so on.All these goals were posted on as they happened and ultimately conquered.
The next goal I had set for myself was one month and I had planned on posting when I achieved that goal.
I think gc and mb are still doing well.It will be 1 month for them today. My quit date was Jan 10th and I am proud to say that my resolve to stay a non smoker has only grown.I have not (or will not) ever have one again.
I'm sure the other guys will post on their progress now that this thread is active again.

Smoked out
Hi All,
My stop date was 11/4/06 after about 35 years.
This is the first time, OK, one of the first times that other's cigarette smoke smells bad to me. That's a good thing! A friend told me she was able to stop by feeling that smoking was just like a "Bad Relationship." That mantra helped, but the visualization I had really did for me; I exhaled and a hugh black cloud of smoke mixed with buzzing bees came out. The symbolism was quite appearent and it sure worked for me!
Good luck to us all.
Ed

It actually was a dream vision that came to me a few days after stopping smoking. The dream intrepretation web sites I checked says the bees are industrious creatures, being busy and all and are working thus at getting the smoke cleared away. The black cloud kinda speaks for itself. I take the whole visual as a good reading and that I was on the right tract or with right action in what I was trying to accomplish.
