Wow that is awsome! It really is a good thing, my only regret is I that I did not quit sooner!

I was finnaly able to kick the habit and can now say I too am a former smoker. Thirty plus years without a smoke and without a father, grandfathers, grandmother or sister.

3 years since my last cigar. Still miss them but I'll get over it.
Good trick: carry a Cinimon Stick with you works great to get over the cravings.
Good Luck to All on this journey.

Congratulations to everyone who has stayed quit. Good luck to those who haven't.

I am amazed at the story on CNN today about a french woman who got up and tried to go outside for a smoke.

She was on a flight from Hong Kong to Brisbane.

Fortunately she was stopped before she got the door open.

Hmmm ... just exactly what was she smokin'?

Timely post ... my new pipe lighter and a couple of pre-embargo Habanos showed up in the mail today.

FWIW ... I informed my doctor as to the frequency of my smoking (not very often) ... he just laughed at me ... said that something else would get me first.

And for everyone who has kicked the daily habit ... congratulations.

................I quit back in 1990 right after my father had open heart surgery . Took me six months but I have NO desire to stinkup the interior of my home , truck or anything else . Some folks simply are "too" addicted to quit it seems . r66

Congrats

Great job on quitting. As an AVID cigar smoker, I only hope that you don't mount a pedestal like some reformed smokers that I know. Of course in writing this sounds harsh, but I have no such intentions.

For example, I was walking down the River Walk, which by the way is outside, enjoying a fine cigar when I overheard a woman complaining about those 'stinking cigars.' Heck, I didn't give her grieve about the smell coming from her childs diaper did I?

God Bless and Live & Let Live

If I could I would apologise to every person that I affected with my smoke. Nothing smells worse. It is a rude addiction that most users are programed to belive affects no one else and that if they do it outside it affects no one but themselves. It is like Loud music and can travel.

I have a question for you.

I know. Of course in writing this sounds harsh, but I have no such intentions.

If your neighbor turned his stereo up for 15 minutes at a time 20 times per day and the bass was so loud it rattled your windows, would you care?
Would you say something?
How about if they played loud music while you were sitting at the river enjoying the day?
What about in the car next to you at a light?
How about at work or at dinner?
When would you tell them it would be ok to blast their music to the point that it affected you?
I mean come on it is their right isnt it? I mean they like loud music that rattles windows, shouldnt they be able to play it any time and anywhere?
Even if it does bother you?
Someday smoking in public will be akin to farting in public and considered unacceptable everywhere.

Okay, reality check. People own dogs so they can blame it on them.

The goal is an "SBD" - silent, but deadly. Of course one must be able to pull it off without blushing, then pause for 15 seconds, look accusingly at someone else, then rapidly walk away.

Of course, if possible one should step outside briefly to get something from the car, etc., and vent the pressure far from sight sound or smell of others.

Since when did they make this illegal. Dog gone it!!!

As for the rest of this quote, I've decided to not get dragged into it anymore. Smoking, drinking, religion, democrat, republican. These are all words that have been officially removed from my dictionary, since they always seem to rile people up. Ciao
