If 1.5 is at 120v you can for estimation purposes just multiply by 10 which would be 15 amps 12v then by hours 8 = 120 amps a good fully charged deep cycle type 27 or 31 should be able to handle, if no other items connected.

there is a walmart and crakerbarrel at the south pittsburg Tn exit on
I-24. it is about 17 miles west of chattanooga. easy off easy on. big parking lot.
if you are tired you dont want to try the mountain just a few miles up the road. i dont like driving that stretch goes up fast and comes down fast and crooked. dont sleep too long you want to get thru nashville before traffic time. not as bad as atlanta but it is a pain.

There are several campgrounds, including a very nice federal one on Lake Nickajack, just north of Chatanooga ... as I recall, it's right off of I-24, but I do not know about hours or dates of operation ... good luck.

I have done my research and I think I will get a 400 watt inverter because I am using 3.5 amps and I will be running it off a Maxx marine battery I bought at Walmart.

The battery is fully charge and relatively new. Everstart MAXX Marine deep cycle/starting 875 ca/125 am hours, 205 reserve is its specification (pulled those specs off the internet?). Personally I don't understand what all the specs mean but I have read about cpaps and batteries and this does seem like it will work. It is only for one night.

What do you all think?

I figure anywhere from about 30 minutes north of Chattanooga up past the mountains. I will be good for about 3:30 minutes driving before I get to tired to drive.
Do you know of place that you could recommend?

Loth,
I am not sure about GA, but in TN if you stop at any Welcome Center (do not confuse these with parking areas, which have no services) it is safe for the most part as there is Hwy Patrol thru them all night plus the amount of trucks & campers that use them.
Somewhere on this site is also people who let you park overnight at their home. I know because I am listed as a overnight stop.

I always see security at the rest area welcome centers but thought you were only allowed to park there for no more then 2 hours? I checked out another site that listed free camping areas for people on the go. They said walmart allows you to spend the night because it is corporate policy and Cracker Barrel has a no camping over night policy. I have been reading also about truck stops. Union 76 truck stops let you spend the night. I was wondering about any other truck stops?

I checked out a couple of Walmarts on google earth up and down interstate 24 in tn. I am trying to judge which one is the best for when I get tired. If I am feeling good I will try to make it to Clarksville and stay at their super Walmart. Manchesters is across the street from a truck stop and next to hotels. That looks like a pretty good one. Bonnaroo is down the street. I was wondering if they have people camp there during the off season

Brian has mentioned something which is Cracker Barrel not allowing overnight stops this is true. One of the Cracker Barrels that I use to frequent told me that corporate has pretty much put a stop to it because of a lawsuit they had over someone being robbed at one of their stores during the night. I do know that most of Golden Corrals still allow over nighters especially if you are a veteran. Those few that dont have it posted and it is because of city ordances. Walmart Corporate is getting where they are going to do the same thing because of the problems and city ordances, right now they leave it up to the general managers.
