It is very cool looking, but I suspect that a loaded trailer of this sort would be most useful, and safe, for non-mountainous touring...like in Holland, or Florida, or Kansas...

Rodney, if you haven't tried one, I highly recommend the BOB trailer for touring. I used one for my trip down the Pacific Coast Highway and would never go back to panniers.

I'm really undecided where trailers are concerned. I like the idea, and the word I hear is that drivers tend to give you a little more space when passing. OTOH, it looks like an invitation to carry gear I don't need.

Not sure how crazy I am about the way that trailer attaches to the bike. Looks like it might take the bike over.....

The attachment to the bike was my favorite aspect of this trailer. You replace the standard rear wheel skewer with one of theirs that allows quick attachment and release, creating a sort of universal joint that allows the trailer to move with the road surface. The low centre of gravity takes a bit of getting used to but is ultimately better, in my experience. I got the weight dialed in before leaving for my trip. But yes, it is easy to load too much initially, so best to do a few practice trips first!
