Thanks for the posting, purman—

Glad you hung in there with it!

Your bona fides and your facts were challenged by a few respondents and you qualified them: your wife is a physician.

Interestingly enough, I have yet to meet ANYONE who is immune to the subject of health care.

What may not be relevant to some (or too unpleasant to contemplate today), may be a vital topic tomorrow.

And as one who has long since given up on TV as a legitimate source of information, I rely on disparate channels, such as this one, for a sense of what's really happening in other necks of the woods.

As for those whose well-being was apparently endangered by the mere viewing of the topic headline:

Really???!!

My well-being? No. My happiness and general desire to avoid getting angered-up? Yep. There are other forums I can go to for that. Not what I want from here.

Jason,
Part of the problem may be that when you open the AIR forums you (I) go directly to the portal page. All the newest posts are shown there, but not where they came from. Most folks probably couldn't tell that your post was in the off-topic forum. That may be why so many were upset. I dunno. I am one that would normally stay out of the off-topic area also, just to keep my even(?) temper.

Just a thought,

Ken

Robert, are you serious? That is the oldest response to absolutely nothing. I think you are smarter than that and very surprised you would use a line like that. I think you actually proved the op's point.

For those of you just now joining this thread, let me summarize ...

A french fry walks into the bar and says to the bartender "Hey, could I get a beer please!?!"

The bartender looks at him shaking his head and says "No, we don't serve food here."

Bar brawl ensued.

A few heads happily imbedded in sand? Check.

Some well-aimed shots directed at the messenger? Double-check.

And yet, despite that, I don't doubt that at some point, some young/old/in-between Airstreamer who has had the gracelessness and bad manners to fall sick and in need of health-care, will surprise his or her provider by being knowledgeable about a purposefully unreported/little-reported change in the way in which their health care is dispensed.

And that person may say, "I read about it on the Airstream Forums."

I think too many people get all nervous about maybe saying something "edgy, or politically incorrect". I say in the off topic section it should be kept to good taste but one should be allowed to express their views...

Perhaps the Gay camping thread is a good example. I don't think anyone got too harsh on that thread, just different views...

Thats the problem...health care is "dispensed".

Out of a water cannon... thru a for profit nozzle.

,I seek the opposing viewpoint, although I am definate on my opinions. I tend to think that, even though television news today strives for a bent toward entertainment, that there is more info and diffenent opinions, than in the past. I would never want just the "big 3" ever again. I personally like the pundits and their different opinions. I can read thru the crap, and disregard the spin. I ask my own questions, and see if I can hear the answer.

I look at this forums, which I really enjoy, and the off topics threads the same way. Somewhere in all the discussion, there is the truth!

I am a news junky and watch all news channels, even though I have favorite. I cannot be offended, no matter how someone may try. So for me, in the off topic threads, put whatever you want. This is America. I will probably read all controversial threads, especially if I may disagree with it.

And I don't, like silicone for anything!!!

Silicone spray is good for the window seals. Universal health care is good for humans.

Oh, a funny guy!...

We were given two ears and one mouth to be used in that proportion.
Unfortunately, the internet has given us new proportions to deal with. That is two eyes to view posts, and two hands to type responses.
The interaction issues seem to reflect this change.
