It looks like a short Airstream body, perhaps 66-68, merged with a van that has an unattractive custom grille.

I'm basing my '66-'68 SWAG on the shape of the windows, but there's not a lot of detail.

The illegitimate parent of an Airstream Avenue Class B, born out of wedlock when someone non-consensually took the shell of an Airstream trailer and rudely mated it to the front of a Chevy (?) van. Had to be non-consensual because I can't imagine an Airstream ever agreeing to such a coupling.

I've watched the movie several times (my Airstream has its own copy) but I've never noticed that rig. Of course, if if I did see it, I blocked it out of my memory. Oh, the horror!

It is a Chevy....1973 - 1995 with some homemade grill thingy. If it was factory with 4 headlight system, It would probably be toward the latter of the 22 year run.

HOWEVER, I don't think it is on the Chevy chassis. The front wheel well looks custom and the wheel is directly below the seating area??????? More rearward than stock.

My guess is 1968 globe trotter mated to rear engine corvair greenbrier. This brings a lot more questions to me, and I should be using my brain more productively...

Wow! Some kind of crazy home made RV consisting of a 60's Airstream and a 70's Dodge van...

Even the cab is custom/altered. It is higher/taller than normal. I'm still thinking the door and hood look like Dodge Tradesman van from the 70's. Yes, it is UGLY!
I had a guy in an sob next to me in the campground over the weekend. He thought Aitstreams were ugly, but were quality construction!

Gasp! Blasphemy!

He didn't say that to your face, did he? Like "Damn, that thing is ugly, but I hear they're well made!' Doesn't seem like th best way to make friends with your new temporary neighbor.

That RV in Post #1 must have some good rivits to avoid leaks between front and back. NoI have to go watch the movie to see where that trailer is in the movie, don't remember it.

Or.. I could read my newest issue of AS Life that just came.sigh....

It did go something like that- I replied that I thought they were the most beautiful trailers in my eyes and I had always wanted one- even before I owned my SOB trailer- and shared all the troubles I had with the SOB and that I had never had any trouble with the 'Stream-
An Airstream is retro cool art deco- an aircraft minus the wings-

I had the opposite experience this weekend. We showed the Argosy to a couple of campground neighbors. Afterwards, I thoght they were going to drive their SOB off the cliff and walk to the Airstream dealer.

IIRC, it was waiting in line at the Dump Scene

You might review the movie credits for a clue on the name of the 'custom' shop that built that horrific vehicle

34 foot Avion in there too....

There's a 34' Avion tri-axle in that movie too. It shows up in multiple scenes....in that campground with this "hybrid" as well

Would anyone really want to take "CREDIT" for that rolling stock?

I think you're onto something with that Corvair Greenbrier comment. The front wheel / fender area is very similar to the Corvair.

Regardless, it's a very unusual custom RV.

Here's a picture of a 63 Greenbrier
