PS - The graph in the previous post was generated via this interactive map of the entire Southeast, so anyone can look up rivers near your families and loved ones:

https://www.weather.gov/serfc/

Note the color coding for the various flood stages — a helpful overview.

Sorry to say that your forecast in an earlier post seems to be playing out, in that recent chart. Conway was on the news last night. Very unsettling to watch, and for your friend, I am sure.

A lot of those affected don’t have flood insurance, according to what I am hearing on the news, and this may be a wake up call to some of us to consider adding it to our homeowners.

We added earthquake insurance a number of years ago, after being in the relatively minor one that struck DC and Virginia...it collapsed roofs, and shook homes off their foundations.

Tho there hasn’t been a serious earthquake here in about 200 years, the New Madrid fault could see one and affect my home.

I still don’t have flood insurance, tho am not near a body of water I have considered it.

The Waccamaw River in SC is still rising, with the crest not expected until Wednesday, much later than previously forecast. Folks there must be running out of patience, with the slow movement of water coming down from the hills, at a snail's pace.

Wonder how many folks will leave the area for good?

Prayers for everyone.

I was told it was rising an inch an hour. Our friend expects 1 to2 feet in their home. They have evacuated and rented an apartment for the time being.

Yikes, good reminder that things in the Carolinas are still far from returning to normal. We’re headed south later this week, will probably stay west on I-81 vs. east on I-95 to avoid participating in and/or contributing to the situations there.

I-81 is a better route anyway IMO. Apparently, the Appalachians did not get much rain/flooding from Florence, but in another thread someone said that many CG's had been closed temporarily. Hopefully they have re-opened.

Have a great trip south.

The projected crest in the chart in Post #85 appears to have dropped a foot or so. Still an overwhelming amount of flooding, but at least this has not gone up!

Prayers for all the folks waiting this out.

Amazingly, the water appears to be topping out here, but there is at least another week of water levels well above flood stage. Yikes!

Amazing that the flooding continues to abate so very slowly, per the chart in the previous post.

Sadly, it appears TD14 may bring more rain up the coast through the Carolinas next week. Fasten your seatbelts.

Yep, now it's tropical storm Michael. Looks real enough, though less scary than Florence. Looks like we'll get wet and windy in Florida from this storm. Time for another thread, eh?

Amazingly the Waccamaw River at Conway in Post #90 is still in Moderate flood stage.

Prayers for the folks who have not been able to go home yet.

The Waccamaw River may be starting to get some run-off from Michael IMO -- see Post #25 in that thread:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f161...ls-188010.html

Prayers for the folks in Conway and elsewhere who have been homeless for weeks now.

Here is NOAA's aerial imagery FYI. Amazing stuff if you zoom in on each area:

https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/news/s...m-imagery.html

At the top right there is a drop-down menu that lets you see the Before imagery.

Amazing stuff.

Hi

.... ummm .... errrr .... I-81 did not get completely flooded out / shut down. There were plenty of accidents as well as quite a bit of water. I didn't see any that made it past about 6" deep across the roadway.

Hmmm .... which hurricane are we talking about here ... I think I have them confused .... ( = I'm talking about rain two days ago ...)

Yes confused IMO. The post you quoted was from 9/24 about Florence, as is this thread.
