Hummm ... Things You Shouldn't Do When Camping

1. Don't place bets on who can race back to the campsite the quickest on bikes (anyway ... don't do it after having drank several Pina Coladas). For some reason I didn't recall that firepit being where it was earlier in the day. Somehow it found it upon itself to grow legs and move around on the campsite while we were away riding bikes. I guess the fact that I decided to cheat and cut through the woods and down the hill didn't help the situation.

Nice job! Is the bike OK?

Really, glad you're OK and can joke about it. Tetinus shot recently?

OUCH! Hope that mends fast. I have tripped over that kind of grill grating when we have a fire. There ought to be a law against objects putting themselves in our harm's way!!!

Another thing you probably shouldn't do while camping is go into the woods to look for downed branches after dark (and libations.) You come back fallen down after struggling to pull out roots and overturned trees just to return, bruised, scratched, bitten, rashed and nearly empty handed as so many twigs managed to escape en route back to camp. And yet somehow, you don't really seem to mind all that much.

All good fun!

That sounds like fun! Maybe a little painful, but scars are cool.
Since you had the Margaritas, I bet it didn't even hurt

Ow. Ow. OW! Yikes...hope it is healing OK by now. Those dang fire pits.

Really, though ... hope it is (and you are) OK and you don't have further problems with it...

Ow.

That had to hurt. But, looking at the bright side, you now have a story to tell. I have many scars from where stuff jumped put and bit me while I was doing things of, well, questionable intelligence.

Not Margaritas... Pina Coladas. Girl drinks.

Definitely looks icky. I'm not happy about that whole torn/cut flesh thing, that's Dr. David's job to deal with! Is it shallow? Deeper cuts/punctures involving rusty things do sometimes call for a tetanus booster, as someone has mentioned previously. Take good care of that.

Who got the worst of it ~ the fire pit or you?
No photos of a bandaged fire pit?
You might want to be prepared to give a full report at Inks Lake next weekend.

Hope it heals soon, without infection. Not only tetanus, but staph and other nasties. Having been through foot/ankle surgery, including infections that left me on intravenous antibiotics for fourteen weeks, I can certainly sympathize.

Frank&Mike— Any chance of expanding this thread to a generalized "Things you shouldn't do when camping" list? I think a list of things people have done that didn't work out so well might be educational for relative newbies like me; I've only been at this whole RV thing less than a year and I'm still learning. Better to learn from other people's mistakes than to learn from one's own.

Try to listen to a World Series game out in the middle of the East Texas woods, let alone try to find it on television.

Scheduling camping trips much more carefully this year.

Go Rangers!

Okay--
Don't connect the city water hose to the sewer tank flusher, turn it on, and go out to dinner with friends...
