This may tell you something. My birth certificate says I'm twice your age, but I think I'm a lot younger too. AARP may be correct.

Can you say that a little louder? We missed most of it.

In all seriousness Gene, there's nothing like a visit to opthamologist to make you feel real old, real fast. E - O - L - B? Oh wait, I think that's an R. No it's a B. I'm going to say it's a B.

Your friends,

Took the poll just to see the results, wow, I didn't realize most members here are half my age, and only a few can equal Genes and my age. Would impart a few words of wisdom but forgot what I was going to say. lol
OK remembered, age and computers don't mix, most members are computer proficient and those that are our age generally don't like computers.

I live in an area popular for retirees and we get hearing aid fliers at least twice a week in the daily newspaper. At least AARP only uses the mail.

I'm not as old as Dave and Gene But I did just sign up for SS, the youngest age to collect.

Cheers, Dan

Your friends,
My hearing isn't that great, but it's not old age, it's playing rock 'n' roll really loud on head phones long ago, and then there was that time at the ZZ Top concert in the early 70's when I had my head in the speaker…

Last time I had my eyes checked (last year) I learned I still had 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other. So "why", I asked, "do I need reading glasses?" The answer was the lens doesn't flex much and while distance vision is good, I can't squeeze those little guys much any more.

So I can see fine to drive, but if you are blowing your horn at me, I may still have ZZ Top really loud and I'll back into your car.

Just recently celebrated the 23rd anniversary of my 39th birthday. The DW is a couple of years behind. Sometimes can't believe that's me in the mirror, if you know what I mean. I think Mark Twain is credited with saying something like age is just a case of mind over matter...if you don't mind, it don't matter! Bought our AS 2 years ago; leaving for a 2 week trip to Tennessee mid-April and feel like a kid waiting for Santa.

This is fun!

We bought our Argosy 4 years ago, when I was 38 & Sean was 40. We plan on camping in it (or one of the other Airstreams we might find along the way) for several more decades, at least!

This thread details the age groups that are active on the forum recently.

It points out that most members are over the age of 50 and. with the economy as it is, that percentage will probably grow significantly over the next few years.

Considering some of the controversy of the past month, we older members should be careful, when we post information ,that may be taken the wrong way by those with less "experience", that we don't mislead those age groups under about age 50. Let them learn for themselves.

I don't think at all that the controversy was rooted in age and experience issues.

I think the issues were about crossing the line from fun to insensitivity, and then feeling one has the right to say and leave posted whatever they like ON SOMEONE ELSE'S FORUM!

Please, folks, don't resurrect this into yet another thread, distorting and beating something senseless.

Let it go and move on, for Pete's sake.

Gene - So that was you in Austin all those years ago, on the other side of the stage, your head buried on the speaker!! I always wondered who the other ZZT nut was. You won't remember, but I had my straw cowboy hat in my hand, my head also too close to the beat & was wearing my Navy-issue faded blue bell bottoms. The hat helped to start a camp fire, the nice head of hair is 'thinning out' and I still want those bell bottoms back! In retrospect, not worth the loss of hearing, but a great time to recall never the less.

I wish the poll also had people 70-79, 80-89, and maybe older.

Whitsend, my head was in the speaker in Niagara Falls, not Austin. I see you just celebrated 10 years as a Forum member. Congratulations.

Your friends,
I've had to wear hearing aids (2) most of all my 74 years. I do not know what 'normal' hearing is so I don't feel handicapped.....except when the batteries die.
