Bob
Ole 'Ben must have said that after his kite/lightning experiment. It doesn't make any sense to me.

You (and I) are only as old as you (or I) choose to be. Years since birth often don't even factor in.

Someone recently pointed out to me that I am a smart ass. (a fact that I am already aware of and perhaps even proud of). While contemplating this, I decided it was preferable to the alternative. To me logically , that would be being a dumb ass.

Ken

By the way, I am 68, in time only, for another month and a half

I'm 56, but 57 is Sneakinup on me! I'm a lot older since I got my Airstream though. It's keeping me young, and killing me at the same time. I suppose that is what a "younger woman" would do. She is born in 1977.

The real woman in my life is 3 months younger than me... and in WAY better shape than my Airstream!

So is it bad that I'm 34 and feeling semi old-ish? It might be the fact that I'm surrounded by actors most of the time, but still, I don't see many of my peers restoring vintage airstreams because they find the lure of a mirror shine important... Perhaps I'm "seasoning" early...

Check the forum rules. I'm pretty sure it is a violation to use the words puppy or kitten without accompanying photo documentation.

I seriously have NO idea how people have kids and restore an airstream. My children would be in foster care so quickly their heads would spin:-) Just kidding....kinda....

I tell them all the time that if they just let us work on it, we might be able to actually camp in before they are moving out. That works maybe one weekend each month......

How Old

Being old or acting old is a state of mind. Ageing is something that can't be avoided. The exeption is dying. I try to play every day as if it were my last.
I'll be 80 in September.

Fun story…
In 1996, 2 days after my 40th, my phone in my classroom rings. Which only rings if it's very important. My father was on the other end. In that split second when you mind goes a mile a minute, my mind went everywhere and my heart skipped a beat. Dads voice "You know how you always tease me I'm older than dirt? Well, you're older than Play-Doh". Confused look on my face, "What?" "Well, you turned 40 two days ago. In the paper today Play-Doh turned 40. Have a good day". I had to smile and chuckle. A few days later my students had a gift for me. A Play-doh stamp (I stamp their homework).
Even yesterday at 94 years old my, older than dirt, father reminded me that I am older than Play-Doh.

Happy Birthday to me.

I'll be 62 tomorrow (5/06). Happy Birthday to me. Having said that I'm in I think very good shape. I usually try to take care of myself. Use my Y membership. My younger brother (60) and I have summitted Mt Rainier four times. Last week as he was musing about him turning 60 and me turning old enough to collect SS he asked me if I wanted to give it another shot. I dunno, my wife says no and I say maybe. I try to put a kayak out two or three times a week and for the last several years have been doing lots of manual labor helping my family maintain their boats. My inner tinkerer is very satisfied. I am lean, able to work and play hard and wake up the next morning optimistic about the day ahead. Life is very good. BTW my AS isn't even weaned yet.

Dan

I'm 33 and have been full timing in my airstream for about a year now. I feel much older mentally but much younger physically. I guess that's due to three deployments overseas with one in heavy combat in Afghanistan. I feel younger physically because I like to stay in shape.

Age is mainly a state of mind and staying in shape. My dad is 65 and has always been in good shape and looks better than most late 40 year olds. I can only hope I stay in as good of shape as he has.

Last night, we celebrated my birthday (5/10). I turned 30. We partied enough to know that I'm too old for that nonsense.

Rock and Roll

59 last week. So funny to see the comments, my most memorable concert (and I did make it to a few) was the Jefferson Airplane (not the Starship some of you younger folks may remember) Wow....music (loud) and colors.... Lucky to have survived the days...

Lordy they were fun though, and still today, at least twice a week, I get in the truck to go to work and the radio reminds me of just how loud you need to play rock and roll to really feel it. Guess I turn it up a little on the way home.

.... but sigh....coffee shop music on the way in..

My Airstream is half my age! In its Prime!

39 and holding on like hell, here, although I admit I just got out of the hot tub after working on the Airstream all day.

Mentally I'm 25, physically I'm every bit of 39, some days closer to 59.

Mrs Taylormade is 35 and Ethel the Airstream is 34.

Casa, funny you mention Jeffership Starship... they play locally around here at charity events. I've bumped into them twice in the last year.

49-that number means nothing. My only fear is that I forget what a gift every day is. Stay thirsty my friends.

38........ (had to do the math funny enough)

At least for a few more months! Definitely feel my age but generally in a good way - Lots of life experiences which is a good thing. I'd like to say the upcoming 4-0 isn't at all scary but I'll admit, while I plan on going in like a lion, a part of me wishes it would hold off a few more . Time flies (and not only when you're having fun). There's so much I want to do, see, etc....

My partner is 42 and....

We've got a 7 yr old who LOVES our 1967 globetrotter....

and a 20 yr old who has yet to stay in it (he is 20 after all - there are more fun things than hanging out with mom, I know)
