Hi, we didn't count them, but there may have been about 65 tonight. We buy two large containers with little bags of pretzels from Costco to give out. At two bags each, we had to close up shop early this year. We ran out. We don't buy the chocolate stuff any more because Bob will eat all the left overs.

Light year for us this year, even though the weather was GREAT! We gave out about 50 candy bars and one glass of wine. That was a first!

Considering my Bambi is parked in my driveway, I decided to do things a little differently.... I made all the kids come trick or treating to an Airstream!!!
The awing was out, the flamingo lights went up, the pumpkins were proudly displayed on a bench under the awning, and I heard one little 5 year old "Princess" tell her mommy that "this is the bestest halloween EVER!".
(I like to think trick or treating at an Airstream is the reason it was the "bestest".)
Happy Halloween all!

Edit: I forgot the main reason for the thread. We had about 80 kids here in the suburbs of Vancouver.

Every year Gemma buys tons of candy in hopes that we'll have some visitors. Every year Murray dutifully eats all of the candy that wasn't distributed.
No kiddies at our house this year but we are perpetually hopeful, hence the four bags of candy, just in case. Gemma's mom stayed at our home to pass out candy - just in case.

We went to Gemma's girlfriend, Dora's home in a neighboorhood with lots of single-level, ranch style homes to celebrate her nephew and niece's birthdays. Lot's of kids - over a hundred! Murray made the dark chocolate ganache glazed devil's food birthday cake. By the time we cut the birthday cake at 2:30 in the afternoon, the kids had already consumed a significant amount of candy.

Ooh - we got all dressed up too!

Carol,

I wouldn't let the dogs drink too much champagne, they might want to drive, and you know that wouldn't be good...

We had groups of 5 to 7 each in a steady stream for about two hours. All seemed to be having a blast.

This was the first year that near the end a portion seemed like they were older than us ( and we're grandparents ) that were dressed up and even had their little bags.

Perfect night in Arizona for trick or treat. My street turns into one big block party, firepits, BBQ's and everyone having a good time. The little gouhls and gobblins were so cute.

We were out getting loot with the kids but as always we left candy in a big bag with a warning to any wouldbe greedy trick or treaters who might be tempted to take the whole bag and call it an early night. We still had some candy in the bag when we got back so we must not have a huge showing and the warning must have worked.

Aage,

My dogs are service dogs, I taught them to drive long ago and I never let them drink so they can always drive me home. Course they are labs, so we usually end up at a lake...

I know that one: "Throw the stick again, master!" (repeat ad infinitum)

2800+!!! I never would have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself!

My cousins do a haunted graveyard thing in their frontyard, with scary things that pop out and lots of dry ice "smoke". Someone had the foresight to bring a tally counter, one of those handheld 4-digit clickers. I couldn't believe it! Kids lined up waiting for their chance to walk thru the scary stuff and get to the candy being handed out from a big cauldron on the front porch. But woe to the older "kids" who show up in lame costumes... that'll get you a hot sauce packet! We had a blast. We left around 930pm with a few people still showing up. The clicker was a little more than 2800 at that point! I think they should put out a tip jar next year!
