Ain't the Midwest (or Plains States as they call us on the Weather Channel) great? We have such a variety of weather to chose from.

At least it's not freezing drizzle or rain here today. I was really tired of that. However since it's now in the single digits, the ice won't thaw.

But I shall be thankful for the small things. A warm wood fire, living on a hill, a full pantry, and Moby sitting in the barn waiting for warmer days.

how cold?

Last week we hit -50 on the themometer, luckly, there was no wind. We have had blizzard conditions for 3 days, -30 with 20-30 MPH winds. We like to say "It keeps the riff raff out"

Here in Chandler, Oklahoma, it's about 22degrees right now. The Argosy is sitting in the yard all winterized and waiting for the cushions to return from the upholsterers, and for SPRING. It was in the 70's last week-end. Oklahoma weather is great like Will Rogers said. "If you don't like the weather in Oklahoma, wait a minute." Right now I just sit and look out at the Argosy, waiting for warmer weather to get in it and see if anything is wrong that I need to fix. We just got the coach in November, and have been reading the forum ever since to see what may need to be done to it. AND HOW TO DO IT RIGHT. Judy

The news said that Embarrass, MN was -54 yesterday for the low. Today's high for the Twin Cities is 20 degrees more than the high yesterday. We are expecting to get up to 25 degrees today.

I know, Sneak, it's tragic ... we had to put the HEAT on yesterday!

Mid-50s here in central FL. I guess we won't be going to the pool today.

I had frost on my cars this AM when I left for work There was frost on some of the neighborhood lawns as well. I guess our winter weather just came a bit late

Poor chickens-

The temperature at noon today was -10 in NH. Went out to the chicken coop three times to thaw out water bucket. And this chicken house has insulation, Pella windows and heat lamp!

Swanky digs for the chickens! Aren't they lucky to have you What kind do you have? We used to keep Golden O. . .,something, I've forgotten. They were beautiful, gold feathers, big husky chickens with feathered feet. The girls would pack them around everywhere when they were little, like their dolls.

New Hampshire Reds, of course!

They were bred for cold winters, and are very gentle. Even the rooster, Mario, doesn't mind being manhandled by kids. The hens lay huge eggs.

John- We had a flock of Araconas for 3 or 4 years until the coyotes tore thhrough the chicken wire in the middle of one day when I was gone for only 2 hours. I guess they knew if I was gone, the dog would be either with me or in the house. So the present flock have a chain link enclosure to play in....
