As we used to say when we lived in northen Maine, "It was so cold this morning I had to kick start my sled dogs!" Seriously, even in the deep south we get freezing temps, although nothing like further north.

I still keep a pair of mucklucks I had from Maine, just in case I ever travel through real snow again. I even had a pair of white artic Mickey Mouse boots that you inflate with
air, but I had to trun them back in to supply when I left Loring AFB.

Heh, heh, heh, my buddy is visiting his daughter and grandkids in Edmonton, Alberta. He is not used to anything colder than mid +20's F. Today he emailed that it was minus 50 celcius with the windchill at 7 am. He's coming home tomorrow . Had enough of being in a deepfreeze.

Just wanted to send a ray of sunshine out to all who are dealing with the cold & Snow.
This was taken today at Quintana Beach just south of Freeport, Texas.

I've been riding my bike to work daily for a couple years now, and for the last three I've written down the AM temperatures in Jan, Feb, Mar. This January's morning temps have been running about 5-8 f below last years, but I think it'll even out in Feb (last Feb saw the -5 bike ride).

Today was nice, low thirties, mild wind, but the ice left by the overnight freezing rain made things a bit dicey here and there.

Funny thing is, I really enjoy the weather. Pretty much any weather. I did not expect that when I first started.

It's so cool to see and feel it change, even on a daily basis.

It got a little cool here last night in the house so I got up to check the themostat. It was still set for the AC to come on since it got a little warm during the day, so I changed it over to "Heat" and took care of that! Man I'm telling you, the hardships we have to go through!

7 degrees at 9pm, and I'll be up several times tonight to keep an eye on a beef brisket sitting in the smoker! Not looking forward to how cold it could be at 3 am.
