It's below zero at night and today it reached a whopping 6 degrees.

At least it takes my mind off that bad Bears loss yesterday.....started well, but ended bad (unless you're a Colts fan).

Just finished plowing snow. We got about four or five inches of new snow this morning. Temp got up to eight degrees today. Heat wave. Thirteen below last night.

As an aside, a mink came up from the lake today and was trying to catch a bird or squirrel for lunch. It was no contest as the mink tried to maneuver through the snow. One thing I didn't know was that they will climb way up in trees. This one did anyway.

I don't think so Don.
This time of year weasels are all white except for the black tip on their tail.
Summer time they are fawn brown with the same black tip. They never get as dark as this animal is.
Also, though there is not a good way in these photos judge the size, this looks much larger than a weasel.
A weasel is only about 1/4 the size of a mink and can squeeze through a hole about the size of a quarter.
Growing up in the country there wasn't much for a kid to do to make spending money. I ran a trap line all through my HS years and caught quite a few of each.

As for the talk about the temps...
My 75 has a thermometer in the front headliner that measures the outside temp. There are 2 hands on the dial that you can set to the current temp and as the thermometer moves up or down it will move those hands to record the high and low temps.
I reset it every year about deer season. Last year the highest temp was 103 and the low was -36.
Last night in Aitkin - where my camper is - it was supposed to be -28. Glad I wasn't in it.

Good grief, after freezing for several weeks, ponds thickly iced, today hit 53 degrees!!!??? And they are saying it's going to drop right back down into the teens/twenties in the day and single digits again at night. Crazy winter. ~G I know, I know, these temps don't compare to those of northern Minnesota!
