Baby it's COLD outside

It's 4 below zero here in mid East Michigan at midnight, only a few degrees colder than earlier. The Airstream is being heated to about 50 degrees, saw a bit of frost on the inside of the door frame earlier. (I am inside the house.) We leave for a trip in a few days. Will probably dry camp unless we head into warm climes. Got new 12v/115 dual heated mattress pads for the twins and an emergency supply of foil wrapped bubblewrap for insulation as needed, i.e., windows, outside storage doors, vents and skylight, around the head of the mattresses, plenty of blankets and a shovel, ceramic heater, hot water bottles, heating pad and hair dryer. We figured out we should use the extension cord so we aren't trying to coil up the attached frozen electical wire, and can take inside and lay in the aisle. No levelers to be used for the slush can freeze them into the ground. Need to get some graphite for the locks.

Mild

About 70 here today. I hitched up at the state park in a long-sleeve T-shirt at about 10:30 this morning to come back from the Blanco Forum Rally. Expect about 40 tonight.

They are forecasting a high of 46 Xmas eve with possible snow, though. That will probably be the low of our winter.

-7.8 Crestline, Ohio! I just could not convince the wife that sleeping in the airstream would be fun!

My kids, who live in an unheated lake house, spent the weekend with us. Got too warm so turned the thermostat down. Woke up to 60 degrees in the house. I should have sent them to the Airstream...but the interior is mostly out at this point...

50% guess here-Donna?

Are you in the motorhome? Does it hold the heat more than the trailer?

Got down to +12 last night in STL. Looks like we have snow and cold heading our way Wednesday night. I'm hoping the snow stays away till after the 5th of Jan. Need to deliver the Classic to the dealer to start the recall and warranty work.

Would love to be out in the MH somewhere but we're just not quite ready for that yet. Weve been in it and checked out the furnace and such, works great and I think it would keep us comfortable. As far as the A/S we've never been out in it in this kind of cold weather. We have used the furnace in it and it seemed to do fine. I don't know how they would compare other than it would probably use a lot of propane in this cold weather on either one.

BTW, it's now up tp 10 @11:07 a.m.
