From the past twelve hours' whiteout snowfall, falling horizontally on wind gusts to 40 mph, now we have sunshine, temps below 25, and constant blowing wind. Out of only 1-2 inches of snow in past 24 hours, we're getting some interesting drifts. 40's predicted for tomorrow and next week, ranging up into 50's. Bare ground by next weekend. Can't wait! We may plant peas

Supposed to get all the way up to 70 here on Friday! I can't wait. Too cold this year, too cold.

Hang in there gang, spring is just around the corner.

Suddenly, after the blowing snow, zero temps, below zero wind chills, today is heading into mid 50's with 60's forecast by Wednesday through the weekend. Snow is disappearing as I type. Life is good and getting better! ~G

Maine

Our forecast is for a return to seasonal temperatures here in Maine after we get through this current Artic blast. The weekend is looking nice. Seasonal will mean around 25 to 34 degrees. Spring is on the way!

It's nearly 35 degrees here today!

I may take a dip in Lake Michigan it feels so warm right now (compared to where we've been these last 22 days)!

Mainers prefer to think of it as open season for basement trout fishing!

At least the mud doesn't chase us down the hillside, like some other places.

Good point
Those that build in those locations prove the saying - "Common sense is not common". That seems to be a common problem out here, if ya know what I mean.

It was actually lovely yesterday! About 50 or so...our snow is melting fast (now), however we are in the running for breaking a record here:

Quote:
DENVER - Sunday marked the 60th day in a row that at least one inch of snow cover has been recorded at the Stapleton site in northeast Denver.

That stretch tied for second place for the most consecutive days of snow cover in Denver history. The previous 60-day streak was recorded from December 1, 1913 to January 29, 1914.

The all-time record is 63 consecutive days of snow cover, set from November 26, 1983 to January 27, 1984.

Snow cover has been measured at the Stapleton airport site continuously since 1949. Each day at 6:00 a.m. cooperative observers take several measurements of the snow cover around the site at Smith Road and Havana.

These measurements are then averaged to come up with the snow cover for the day.

With melting during the daytime and little prospect for measurable snowfall from the showers expected Monday afternoon, it will be right down to the wire Wednesday morning whether the current streak will tie the all-time record.

We have to keep at least one inch of average snow cover through Thursday morning to break the current record. Stay tuned!
We actualy have people hoping it snows in the next day or two! Aaaargh!!!

Shari

"Ice bound no more"

The ice has almost lost it's grip on "Molly" and she will no longer be locked into the driveway. After several days of 40+ temps she will be free to roam the open highways again!
