Hot water heater? Really?
I've been cruising through this forum for about two weeks now and it's really amazing about this device that I keep hearing about. It seems that people need something to make hot water hotter? Not exactly sure why anyone would need such a device but it's amazing how many people say they've installed one, cleaned one, fixed one, and what not.
I mean really? why would you want to reheat hot water anyway? Then again these airstreams are totally different than all the other trailers out there and they require specialty equipment that others don't need.
Kind of makes me feel special to know that I'm not using just plain old hot water but I'm using hotter hot water:-)

It's to remind you the heater of the water is hot, as opposed to when it's been off for some time and it's a cold or cool water heater.

Please don't hold us responsible for a peculiar regional variation in the American version of the English language. Many of us grew up with that one.
But, then, it must be a hot water heater because the cold water obviously hasn't been heated. If it was just a water heater, wouldn't all the water be hot?

I'm always amazed at the useful information I get from this forum. I always thought it was called a hot water heater because it kept hot water hot. You mean it is capable of heating cold water too? I really don't need to prime it with a gallon of hot water I bring out at the start of every trip from my kitchen? This is going to save me a lot of work in the future!

I guess it goes along with things like:
Liquid water & frozen water - space exploration apparently doesn't like the words water & ice. I've never known anyone to get these two mixed up. [I'd like a shot of bourbon with some liquid water and some frozen water.]
(These are from George Carlin too)
Rain event, snow event - why not just rain and snow? Weathermen seem to be caught up in these 'events'. How come there's never a sun event?
Boarding process - Why do airlines announce the 'boarding process'? Boarding is a process. It's an attempt to make something simple sound like something more important; it isn't.
Of course, George did it better.

Is that
New England American English
Southern American English
Canadian English
Californian American English
or mid-western American English?
When you go to the grocery, do you use a cart, basket or a buggy?
Do you bring your groceries home in a sack, tote or a bag?
In the winter, do you wear a toboggan on your head or a knit cap?
If something is expensive, is it pricey or spendy?
If you make a mistake, did you do it by accident or on accident?

In the winter I wear a tuque on my head and drag my ice fishing gear on a toboggan.

Canadian English, obviously.
That's a new one on me. A tuque, eh?

The Department of Redundancy Department is alive and well.
There are hundreds of examples in the English language, I guess that is what makes it unique.

Getting this discussion back on track, my take away is that so long as the hot water heater is filled to capacity, it will heat the water irregardless of whether or not the water starts out hot or cold. What an epiphany!
