Page and I enjoyed a nice part of a week at Lamoine State Park - across Frenchman's Bay from Acadia NP. Not ocean, but nice water view and the park is close by. For wave-on-shore action, we carried our chairs and books to the Schoodic (sp?) peninsula. Dramatic, and relatively low numbers of other sightseers.
Blackwoods campground at Acadia National Park has wooded sites - no hookups. Only a short walk down several paths until you break out onto one of the most beautiful coastal scenes anywhere. Reservations can be difficult in June.
I vote for Boothbay Harbor. A nice romantic place. If you REALLY want to get romantic, take a boat daytrip from Boothbay to Monhegan Island. It's a small artist colony off the coast with some nice hiking trails.
Check it out... Monhegan Island @ nationalgeographic.com
Monehegan is amazing. Jim and I did the day trip from New Harbor and hiked the island. The cliffs I believe are the tallest granite cliffs on the East Coast. There are also no cars or trucks on the island, except for the truck that delivers the luggage to the two inns.
I think we're talkin' late mud/early bug. definately not the 2 weeks of summer....so it must be "bug".
June, dammit!
The Wife (She who must be obeyed) concurs with Recompence
You will get the newlywed bug exemption, shore breezes and all.
Make reservations early.
Love long and prosper

Have you guys thought about catching the "Cat" out of Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, NS and camping - going around the Cape Breton Trail. The lobster is great. My wife and I did that in a vw camper on our honeymoon some thirty odd years ago. We had a blast and our relationship was tested early on during that trip. We hope to do it again in '08. That part of the world is one beautiful place.
Good luck with your wedding and honeymoon plans.

Sandi, was your Dad John Gould, worked for Pratt & Whitney in Ct.??
Greetings-
Sorry, no relation. But we are always looking for Goulds who may. Grew up in Trumbull, CT and have a brother-in-law who is a design engineer for Sikorsky thought, does that count?

I knew the Gould family that lived in Suffern, NY back in the 80's. Not sure if they are still in that area or not though any longer.
My wife and I enjoy most of costal Maine and the campgrounds listed are some that came to my mind.
Congrats on your Marriage!
