Thanks Pat..
We should all know before the end of the week..
I've enjoyed the reading myself and, the different thoughts that folks shared.
Final word will be final word..

If they say it's terrestrial it could still be an expended 'smart pebble' from some anti-satillite or anti-anti-satillite weapons test - so.. then the question may be is it Russian, Chinese or Boeing?

Hi:

Your sample was received, tested, and will be sent back tomorrow with the report.
The sample was not meteoritic, It contains quartz and some minor amount of pyrite.
It is 100 percent terrestrial.

Thank you for submitting this sample for testing.

Sincerely,

Russ Kempton, NEMS

Mel,
I agree..It raises more questions in my mind than answers..
For something that fell out of the sky..
1.Where did it come from on earth?
2.How did it get burned like that?
3.I live too far out in the country for it to be a practical joke.
Maybe I will never know but..
It was 45$ well spend to find out one way or another..
I learned more about this subject matter over tha last few weeks than I ever knew in a lifetime..
The thought just came to me.."Folks who see UFO's are a brave lot.."
Now, it's time to start thinking about Spring and CAMPING~!

I guess now I can quit running around the house looking for unusual rocks every time a crow drops something on the roof to break it open. What a fun thread - sure got us all thinking.

You are right about the folks who report UFO's. Do they or don't they report - and what potential ridicule are they up against if they do.

Thanks for keeping us involved, another good one for around the campfire.

Barry

Barry..you're so right..
My youngest son said something that makes sense..(Once you rule out the other option) I will wait until Spring and check it out..His suggestion was that..It came from the chimney...
Maybe I should have given the 45$ to him????
UFO?? oh no...

Your space rock could be worth a new Airstream or at least a down payment. There are meterorite collector$ who might be very interested in your find or rather 'dropping'. Glad you didn't get any in your eye.

Could be. FedEx and UPS fly so low right over my house (one town up from Vern's) that I could take a second job as a package scanner. I'd just aim the little scanner machine at the bottom of the Airplane and upload the package information via the internet.....

I've sent some karma along to help cover his costs - perhaps some other contributors?
