One of your pictures should have a reference item in it like a penny or a quarter to show scale. I would like to see a clear picture of the "charred" side. Do you have a Macro setting on your camera ?
Do you have a metal detector ? I wonder if it emits a signal ?

I agree~ At the time it happened..My frame of mind was completely on another level..(Like..what the HECK was that?)
I had no clue then....
My son, who is working on his Master's degree, took some time out from his studies and, looked up some pretty interesting facts on the INTERNET about the subject matter..
He said this: From what he read..That, not very many are recovered, on a annual basis about 5 each year or so are found...Most that are found are metallic. Those that are "stony" are rarer because they tend to blend into the background or, not as easy to find like the metallic ones with a magnetic or metal detector. I am intrigued further by theses facts..and the rarity of anyone actually being there as a witness/recovery at the impact point.
My camera is a Sony, DSC-P200 and, I will check it out further as to it's features..(I bought this for the son to take with him on his trips to Africa and, as such..I just haven't played with it that much..)

Yeah, that's exactly right ! I imagine this stuff is raining down on us every day, we just miss it 99.9 % of the time. How many times do you look up, startled from some noise saying, " WTH was that ? " and dismiss it ? I hear stuff falling through the trees all the time, is it always just a branch or an acorn falling ?
If you had been anywhere else at that moment...... even if your son got up from his studies for the noise and been lucky enough to find the speck would he have been able to 100 % for sure relate it to the noise ? Kool.
I always wish this sort of thing would happen to me ! ( Hah ! with my luck, you'll read about me in the Union Leader, I'll be the guy with the thing drilled through the side of his head ! )
My job get's me out "diggin' the earth" frequently and I'm always on the lookout, I even have the guys I work with trained to look for interesting things in the ground ! Buisness, with Pleasure !
There is a Hobby Shop in Salem and (I bet) more than one in Nashua that has metal detectors...... maybe in your travels you could cruise by and pass the "Magic Marble" under the wand for giggles, won't cost nuthin' and may just stimulate you to a new purchase and adventure !

I've been out to see this one more than once, the picture doesn't do it justice, maybe if a plane was flying by a guy could get a grasp of the size of this thing..... Amazing !
There are ( were ? ) buildings in the center and bottom of that enormous hole that are hard to fathom even when your standing there on the rim ! Friends have told me they used to allow you hike to the bottom in the old daze..... regrettfully for me, no more.
Imagine another event like this somewhere populated ? I've always wondered, even back then why this thing landed waaayyy the H out there ?
What luck ! If it were in the East, it would be full of water with golf courses and mansions built around it and noone would even know what it was ! Another Great Lake !
The location of Meteor Crater assures it's existence for all to see for a few more years. A beautiful awe inspiring and peaceful place.
