Hide & Seek at Air Forums!
We each have our favorite areas at AIR Forums. The moderation team has to balance individual interests, group needs and always - what brought us all here in the first place - Airstreams! In an effort to meet the needs of our growing membership, the game threads have been moved to their own subforum, Fun & Games. They will now be 'Hidden' and no longer individually updated on the airforums.com portal page. You can 'Seek' them out easily via a Quick Link to Fun & Games along the left column of the portal page. Game threads will still update after each posting at this new location just as they always have. Or you can find them under New Posts on the blue menu bar overhead.
This change has been a long time coming. We hope you will find as we do that this makes the main focus of AIR Forums more accessible to the broadest segment of our membership.
For the moderation team,

great idea and a long time coming...
but please choose wisely and narrowly what gets buried (i mean hidden) there...
for example this is NOT a game thread...
http://www.airforums.com/forums/471322-post461.html
now part of me thinks having a double super secret section...
with threads that only those 'in the know' know about is cool...
but i really don't wanna go there to find the oddly defined, rambling and occasionally useful threads...
games are games it's obvious.
or not.
on review/trial again, it appear they don't show up on the PORTAL page only, still there on 'new posts' and 'quick links/today's posts'
so MOSTLY this will after guest readers, does ANYONE really use the 'portal page' IF they are logged on?
cheers
2air'
how about throwing the 'gun threads' over there too?
shooting is a fun sport right?

I use it almost exclusively. I suspect a lot of other people do as well. Particularly those of us who visit so often that there are rarely 30 updated threads between visits

Thank you! Now I can remove about two dozen names from my "Ignore" list.
Are the posts and threads in the games forums still going to be included in the traffic counts?

Nephew-of-Mark, sponsors through Google Ads don't read threads so I will say I doubt that is possible.

Hurray Bob! Even though I have been known to partake in a game thread once in a while they do get in the way at times. Great idea!
PS- I love the Portal, gets me to real deal.

The 'portal page' is the first and last thing I check when I visit airforums - to see what is new and then to see what might have popped up while I was looking at my subscribed threads and usual forums.

Good move!
Thank you Mod Squad for an excellent solution to a growing distraction. Visibility quarrantine works for me ... out of sight, out of mind. Yet those who like the fluff stuff can still find it without overrunning the Portal Page, which is my exclusive entry point to the Forums. However, I'll still keep my short "Ignore" list active as I imagine being out of immediate sight will not cause it's distinguished members to post anything useful.

I don't think I had ever visited the "portal" page before this (semi) brou-haha. Am I missing anthing?
My modus-operandi has always been;
1) To first visit my "User CP" - read any new posts to my subscribed threads.
2) Then use "Quick Links" to view "Today's Posts". I then weed through the threads to see if there are any that interest me, or I can provide an answer to (with my limited knowledge). Or respond to friends threads. etc. etc.
I also did not care for the "game" threads cluttering up the page, having to wade through them. To each his own. I also enjoy a little off-topic side banter, however it was starting to seem like the forums had degenerated (in my mind) to an all desert buffet without any meat and potatoes! Thank you for relocating the "game" threads. Those that want to can still post. Those that don't want to see them, don't have to .
