HELP!!!! A really modified new Bambi???

A year ago, I called the AS factory, and they said they could not make any modifications in their airstreams, Yet I remember other members saying they have had modifications done. Specifically, I want a 2004-2005 16' Bambi, with no interior work done except plumbing and wiring (and minus any gas appliances). It would be nice to have the CCD interior aluminum walls, but not necessary, although the aluminum curved ends would be nice inside. I'm not sure about the bathroom. Can anyone tell me what it's made of- fiberglass? But just the toilet hole, water connections, and drains would be necessary in the floor and sides. I figure this means the unit would have to be taken off the assembly line at a certain time. I'm not asking for different stuff., just NOT a lot of the interior stuff. Does anyone know if this can be done???
The rennovation of the 31' 1971 soverign is SLOW. We are still working on leaks. I've renamed it the "airScream." However with the basic shell, wiring plumbing we could put together a useable trailer pretty fast. I figure the airScream is going to be one of those labors of love that will take 2-3 years, be beautiful when it is done, and be great for retirement. I NEED SOMETHING NOW. Does anyone know if this type of Bambi is possible? And can it be done reasonably fast?

Have you talked with a dealer or the Airstream factory recently? I would imagine they would be the best ones to answer your questions on current feasibility...

From the Airstream site directly:

" - if you have questions about a custom RV for personal use please contact your local Airstream dealer."

When we were at the factory last year, they showed us the place where they make custom coaches. If a dealer cannot help, I would as Shari suggested, contact the factory directly.

I called Airstream the other day and spoke with the head of Commerical Operations( my apology , I don't remember his name and I should) about having a 2005 34' built with all electrical and plumbing but no interior. We spoke at length because I wanted to furnish the coach to promote my cabinet/furniture business as well as upgrade what Airstream offers. The end reply was that they won't sell anything but a complete coach. I was told that they would work with a "commerical" customer to provide a complete coach, but because of potential liability they will not sell just the shell with electrical wiring and plumbing. I actually think that it would be less of an expense for me to buy a late 90's 34' and gut it and start over. That will be something that I will be looking into.

Maybe you could rephrase the question as: Who wants to go halfsies on a new CCD?

You might find someone that will buy the interior for a renovation, and you can keep the shell. Hafsies might be a little generous, but someone might be interested in taking out the appliances and soft goods.

That is not farfetched. Current policy seems to be a $250 charge, plus the cost of the modification. Paying $250 over fully complete list for a shell would probably knock your socks off, cost-wise. I know an RV dealer here in Florida that bought a Bambi shell, and had it cut in half lengthwise for a sign, maybe you could get the same deal, only without the cutting in half part.
