Has anyone 'streamed while on crutches? I'm soooo frustrated...
About 3 weeks ago I severed my ACL ligament in a rollerblading accident.
Since then, hubby and little B have been having all the fun on Airstream trips while I am stuck at home schleping myself to and from work . . . am thinking of going on an Airstream trip nonetheless (enough is enough already) this weekend.
Curious if anyone has had the experience . . .
Thanks
PS I posted this in the "off topic" forum

There's no reason why you can't. Just have someone spot for you when you go in and out the main door. I even did some pretty significant repairs on ours while I was on a Walker and in a wheelchair.

I second that emotion . . .
Rednax is right, you should be Queen of the AS until you are recovered :-)

Well, not quite on crutches, but I put my back out over three weeks ago trying to lift our 950 pound bike that fell over while parked in a field at Antietam Battleground!
Somehow I managed to ride the bike home the next day from Maryland to Ontario, with Mrs Wingeezer on the back of the bike, and towing a luggage trailer, but next day back at home, I couldn't get out of bed without help!
I could only hobble around with a cane for the next two weeks. Getting better now, justa little bit each day, and I have been out for a few short rides on the bike.
I don't think Im even up to putting the Hensley stinger on the back of our truck yet though so its as well we don't have any RV trips planned until maybe September!
My sympathies!
Brian.

Has anyone 'streamed while on crutches? I'm soooo frustrated...
I have suffered from knee and ankle problems for most of the last five years so am often either using a walker or a pair of canes when traveling. My general rule of thumb has been that if I can comfortably travel in my car that there is no reason not to hitch up the Airstream and go. What I have learned is: - Be very cautious when arriving in unfamiliar territory particularly if it is after dark or there is dew or rain on the ground. Unfamiliar ground has caused me the most problem in regard to semi-hidden mole trails, rodent burrows, etc.
- Be certain to have risers/steps with adequate area to comfortably access your Airstream. I have found it easier to carry two wooden boxes that are constructed such that they stack to make two large step platforms with slip-proof coverings -- works so much easier than the fold-down steps.
- Don't let traveling companions rush you . . . slow and careful . . . safely wins the flag.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Kevin

Could someone build you a portable ramp (think plywood) that would get you up to the door of the Airstream? The step might be a bit narrow for crutches.
Hang in there, it can be done somehow.
Get well soon!

Oh, you can do it! I ruptured my Achilles... the only thing I can't do (well, a LOT actually) is drive... I think I'm just going to "sit" on the stairs and push my butt in the door...
I like the "queen of the AS" idea too! I should be King!
