Happy Veterans Day!

I just wanted to take a moment and THANK all of you veterans for your service to our country and your dedication to fight to keep us all FREE!!!

We can NEVER show enough gratitude to equal your sacrifice...

To those of you who are still serving and fighting...THANKS!

To those of you who served and fought in the past...THANKS!

To the families of all veterans...THANKS!

Anybody that would like to post some photos of forums members in the military past or present, this would be a good thread to honor them!

G

Happy Veterans day to all the vets and families of vets.

I started my Veterans Day weekend veteran's visits today. I took the kids to visit their great grandfather, Papaw ( WWII/Korea) , today at the West Tennessee Veterans Home. I once again spent a while this morning before we visited explaining the sacrifice of these veterans and why they should honor them. We had a good visit, Papaw whooped the boys in checkers to the dismay of the boys and the great delight of Papaw and some of the other vets there (he's the champ at the home). He clarified his WWII service record for me and told a couple of stories during the clarification of it. I hope all the vets there receive visitors this weekend, we tried to talk and cheer all the vets we saw. It was a good day and a good experience for my boys, my little girl and Mom and I.

Thank you Veterans.
My oldest is 5 1/2, and is just starting to figure out the whole right Vs. wrong thing. We live in a millitary town and many of his friends Dads, and some Moms are deployed, to help keep people from getting owies.
Lately he has been asking questions about the more nebulous question of Good guys and Bad guys. Tough answers to come up with withougt going into centurys of geo-political history and moral relativism.
But today at the parade, I was to point out the uniformed men and women in thier 90s, 80s, 60s, 30s & 20s. Black White, Latino, Pac. Islander, Native American, Eastern and Asian. And say "For starters, these are the good guys. So be sure to wave."

I miss my father on Veterans Day. He alway put his uniform on to wear on this day and on December 7th. He was in the Pacific during WWII.

Thank each and every one of you who serve our country, from the bottom of my free, capitalistic heart! I cannot imagine what you have gone through and will go through, but I thank you immensely!

And, as dudebb says, an extra-special thank-you to the Vietnam vets. I wish I could give each and every one of you a hug!

The men in vietnam fought a hard battle, but so did the vets from WWII and our current conflicts in the middle east. Let us also not forget about our brothers that have dies in Somalia, Bosnia, and other minor skirmishes.

We had a great day yesterday at our church...honored several veterans in our congregation and it was very moving...we had a young father deployed last month and when his picture came up the place erupted with applause...very moving moment...so again...

THANK YOU!
