We finally got our power back on today after 6 days
. Halloween was cancelled ... the poor neighborhood kids... imagine planning a costume and not being able to go trick or treat? But there were way too many downed power lines. I'm glad my kids are grown.
Mother nature has yet again ruled in the Northeast. The town I live in 20 inches of snow last Saturday!!! On Oct 29
. School has been cancelled for the entire week so that means that the five allowed snow days have been already been accounted for, they will be going to school in July at this rate!!! This actually was worse than last year's ice storm in terms of damage to my property. Lots of downed trees because they still had their leaves and the snow was very heavy and wet.
We have been fine, have a generator that provides heat, hot water, microwave and a few lights. No internet of course, and I've missed you all!!!
. Neighbors without power stayed with us and I have had to be VERY creative cooking meals in my microwave. SERIOUSLY hope that by this time next year my airstream will serve as an emergency shelter!!!
As I type this about 27% of Hollis is STILL without power so I know I should feel lucky but it's been a draining few days.
On an up note, last Friday I went to Vermont and my Brother in Law and I delivered my trailer to Colin Hyde's. YIPPEE!!! I'll post more about that on my blog and the "Moonraker" thread I have going on the forum (plus the first ever pictures of his new place posted here hehehehe)
Of course that was followed by me driving home in a freakin OCTOBER BLIZZARD... followed by a power outage a few hours after I got home. Sigh, business as usual here in New England.
The first picture is our driveway... the rest , some of the trees (including the one that my children's double swing was on
