Thumbs up Groundhog Day 2007!

Boy! I can hardly believe that is that time of year; Groundhog Day is tomorrow and I still am not quite yet ready for the big celebration. Still have a little decorating to do around the house;

All the baking is done, the Adult beverages are on ice and the cake is ordered. Still have the salads to make and pick up the spiral ham, but I can do that tomorrow.

So, what are your plans for the big day?

We used to live right by the square in Hebron Illinois where they filmed the movie. It's all so familiar to me, like each day is repeating itself.

I thought we were going to have a local forums "underground" rally in Lou's basement with a fire and chairs and potluck, but now we are having it later on in the month.

I met you and the girls at Louapalooza 2, didn't I? We need to start planning Louapalooza 3. The 2.5 basement rally should be fun.

My favorite holiday. I am gonna Through some steaks on the grill, some baked potatoes, toss back a few cold ones, and look forward to springtime. Bob,

I too am a HUGE fan of Punxsutawney Phil's, cute little bugger that he is! It's about the only holiday Hallmark hasn't gotten ahold of!

Enjoy!

Hopefully "Phil" will decide that spring is here. I'm hoping that we won't have to chip the ice out of our sewer hoses (like we did at the 29 Palms Rally in sunny CA last month) at the next rally in a couple of weeks!

Yeah, we have had 7 storms in 7 weeks...this winter thing is getting kinda old. The hi tomorrow to be about 7* low -7*...glad Phil doesn't live here, he'd be staying inside for sure! All these 7's sound like a perfect way to END winter!

Winter? What winter? We don't know what winter is anymore here in New England. They are promising us snow tomorrow!

I live in Punxsutawney! If somebody wants to lend me a shotgun, I can make sure the varmint doesn't see his shadow! (just kidding ....I think)

If we get 20,000 spectators (like usual) we'll more than triple our population ....but just for the day.

The Airstream in the back yard has about 6 inches of snow on it. It's about 25 degrees out. Snow is predicted for this evening and Groundhog Day.

We wish everyone a happy groundhog day (no matter what Punxsy Phil predicts) and hope to see you down the road.

Dear Weimers-

Thank you for checking in. I have a 20ga. you may borrow. Mod and full over/under. Should do the job! We have only had two minor dustings all season here in CT. I guess whatever passes you tonight will be here tomorrow! Stay warm!

Rick

Safari Tim's daughter and I have something in common!!!!
I'm a groundhog, too...a muuuuch older version. I'll spend the day working;
not sure what after that...

While ' phil' is up north, we have 'general lee' here in the south, though his
following is not as large. We'll have to compare notes.....What Tim's daughter says about the weather, phil, general lee, and myself..see
who comes the closest to what we really have!!! lol

Georgia has our own groundhog. He lives at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Stone Mountain, GA (suburb of Atlanta). Well, actually we have a relatively new one, can't remember his name. The old one, General Beauregard Lee died a few years back. Anyway, between the two they have something like a 97-98% accuracy record for the south regardless of what Punxsutawney Phil says, and we are predicted to have mostly cloudy day tomorrow.

If not, does anybody have a recipe for groundhog stew...seems I lost mine a few years back after the sudden demise of General Lee! I really must remember to put things back where they belong when I'm finished with them.

Another groundhogger here too. And sadly, due to not enough exercise and a very unfortunate love of all things chocolate, sweet, or fattening, I cast a shadow whether there's sunlight or not.

We've had 15 significant storms here this "winter" and we can likely expect more. Only a couple of ours including the "S" word, the rest were high winds and huge rain. My neighbours will be keeping an eye on me tomorrow.

Bah Humbug!

No it's not!!! It's "six more weeks of winter" OR "only six weeks until spring"! It's all a point of view! I choose to be optimistic ~

If he sees his shadow and goes back inside his burrow, there is six more weeks of winter; if he doesn't do either, then spring is right around the corner.

Now, how do we know if he sees his shadow, but decide he'd rather stay out anyway...what would that mean? Only three more weeks of winter? What if he doesn't see his shadow but decides he wants another 30 winks before he checks to see if he still has a shadow? Maybe we have three weeks of warm weather and when no body's expecting it, bam, we have a freakish March blizzard. Wait, that already happened back in '93 didn't it?
