The six day trip my wife and I took a little over 10 years ago cost $1250 each. The same trip today is a few dollars under $2000. If I remember correctly the average tip was $100 per person. The six day trip covers most of the Canyon. The river after the take out point flattens out as it enters Lake Mead.

We did the Hatch River Expeditions, 8-day motorized trip with my parents (late-sixites at the time) several years ago. My parents had some physical limitaions, but this trip was plenty exciting for them...although I would have enjoyed being more involved with an oar trip which we did previously on the Tuolumne River. The motorized trip is probably better suited for kids as well as groups or families.

We left from Lee's Ferry and ended at Bar 10 Ranch...190 miles later. From there we were helicoptered out of the canyon, then flew in a small plane back to our starting point. I thought I recalled there being an option for an additional 3-4 days that continued all the way to Lake Mead, but I'm not sure. We went in early June and it was plenty warm and water levels made for some exciting rapids! The cost today is $2150 per person all enclusive...I believe it was just under $2000 when we went.

We chose the 8-day over the 7-day for a more lesuirely trip...we fit in several partial day hikes and waterfall frolicking. It was w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l ! Top notch all the way...I would love to do it again sometime. Have fun!
