Yep I used to tent camp all the time and when I was in bear country I used to think sometimes... What if it just starts chewin on me when I'm sleepin... But then I'd always think that never happens.

Now I guess I'm lucky!

Hi

Spent a lot of time in bear country in tents. I can't say I worried about it a lot. I figured the bears would be distracted by all the empty beer cans ....

He laid his bag under a tree
And woke with a start, then, said he
"What's that crunching, munching out thar?"
He rolled over aside, exclaimed "That's a B'ar!"
And then jumped and hollered, "It's me!"

Hi

On the "lay your bag out under the stars note ...". I very clearly remember a night back in about 1964 or so. I was snoring away in my tent when another individual asked if he could join me. Seems that lying out under the stars is not quite as much fun after a mouse hops into your mouth ....
