Getting Hitched...

We're getting hitched in Las Vegas in two weeks and staying at the Flamingo!
Being Airstreamers and all we just have to stay there. I'm going to be looking for a couple of flamingos to go on our cake for the reception when we get back.

we did it almost 10 years ago

Hi Gwen,
Before our streaming days we went to LV and got married at a drive up wedding chapel. It was a blast. There are also several casinos that have next door RV parks in case you decide to bring your trailer. Another fun Vegas thing.
Best wishes,
K & L

Hey there - we "took the leap" ourselves one year-plus 5 days ago today in Vegas. It was GREAT fun! Only we took the Airstream with us! It was kind of surreal being down at the Clark County courthouse at 10 o'clock at night getting the license, and the clerk telling us to "have a nice life!" Wife had a lady come to the trailer to do her hair and nails - said she'd done that in many a hotel room, but the trailer was indeed a first for her! Married before noon, back to the trailer to change, then we hit the strip!

It was a fun way to get married, and a fun, fun trip!

(I'm a poet, and didn't know it!)

So which chapel did you guys pick?

Getting Hitched

We will be wed at www.aspecialmemory.com wedding chapel #5. Didn't want to get married at one of those strip malls unless the ushers were the strippers. TeeHee.

Dave,
I also fondly recall how funny (surreal) the Clark County courthouse seemed. Waiting in line with various other couples in their wedding finery and costumes. I'm certain we were also there after normal business hours.

K&L,

If the drive-thru chapel you guys used was the one I'm thinking of, it's the one at the north end of the strip near Stratosphere (I don't think it was built then) we saw some folks getting married when we drove by it. That was too cool!

Our chapel was a little bit north of that one. We had photos taken outside in their "garden". One of our favorites is one with the Stratosphere in the background - along with (and we didn't realize it at the time, but find it utterly hilarious now) a sign that read "ADULT XXX" in bold red letters. We laughed ourselves silly over that - and into the album it went!

Only in Las Vegas!

Congratulations on your happy day. I say this on our day of celebration albeit 36 years ago. We were married in the basement of a synagogue- some might say a fitting place for a young man studying for the Christian ministry with a Jewish bride. Fortunately for us both we have been allowed out of the basement and 36 years years, two kids , one grandchild and many happy memories later the marriage is healthy.
Good luck to you and keep God with you.

Almost six years ago now...

We got married in Vegas at Treasure Island. I'll second all those who said the courthouse at night was surreal - I think we were there at about 10:00 and there were some very interesting people getting their licenses. When we got home and told people that we'd gotten married in Vegas, we were asked three main questions over and over, so you may want to get your answers ready:
1) Did Elvis perform the ceremony?
2) Did you know each other before you got married?
3) Were you drunk when you got married?

Actually, our chapel gave us the option of Elvis singing at our ceremony!

We passed on that, though.

The ceremony was broadcast live over the Internet, too, with color and sound so all the friends and family could watch. They were all amazed at the quality of the production.

When we got to the courthouse, there was only one couple in front of us in line. There were a couple of guys handing out pamphlets on places to get married outside though; which, being approached late at night in a strange town by a strange man with something in his hand is slightly unnerving, to say the least!
