Get scammed, go to Jail

Just another strange twist in the scamming world. Let's see, someone offers to buy your item with a big bank check. What would you do? Perhaps take it to the bank and have them look at it to confirm it was real. Seems like a plan...

Not for me!

I think I'd just donate the bikes to my local charity of choice.......claim their value realistically.............and take the deduction on my taxes.....thank you!

Depending on your tax bracket and state, the gain to your pocket could be only 15 to 30% of the value of the articles. You take the hit for the rest. Craigslist warns you to do business with local people you can check up on.

Thanks for sharing this Stephanie. I've forwarded to a friend trying to sell a high buck muscle car and is getting all kinds of very weird offers.

Wow that is something..thanks for posting that.

What a bummer. I mean the guy was trying to do the right thing with the check, and then he gets tossed into jail with the scary people?
These scammers are something else. Here I thought it was a hassle selling stuff because of all the can't commit/lookers or make an appt and then no show people, whew!

I hate to state the obvious but there is a clear cut solution to the bouncing bank cheque issue. Never ever ship goods until you wait two weeks for the check to clear REGARDLESS of what type of check it is.
