We are currently in So. FL at Terry & Marie's (argosy20 & sd90mac), and I've missed so much on this thread since we left!

As Shrek says, "Really really." My sister is in Ellis Co. and the guineas went for the ants the minute they finished off the grasshoppers.

I wonder if that's because of different varieties of ants? Maybe you have something else that they prefer to eat instead? All I know is they do a great job in the DFW area.

Maybe you can help me figure out why my wisteria won't bloom. It does at my neighbors house. Could it be because I rarely trim/prune mine?

Edie , you probably are fertilizing it too much! Also do your pruning after the wisteria blooms. It blooms on first year wood. If you trim that winter before, you trim the budding branches. also some kinds of wisteria take 7 years to establish and bloom. Other varieties are much faster. If you want to do "Tough Love" stress it by cutting into the cambium (green) layer of the wood at the base. about 1/4 around girth. ss

Well, to tell the truth, my irises were labeled Blue Flag when I purchased them.
I posted this at the beginning of the thread along with a photo of white irises.

I looked out the windows at my small courtyard pond this morning and...viola! Three blue irises.

They are not blue flag, but at least they are blue. This is the first year any of my irises have bloomed. I think they were too wet where I had them before. We moved them last fall, and they have really thrived in their new location.
