Reason being is that it's a volunteer military. I can see neither Kerry’s nor Bush's daughters doing anything that might break a nail anyway.

I think that anytime there is conflict, regardless of what creed a person follows, is a terrible thing when a child or other innocents are killed, but the facts are the facts, this happens in conflict as conflict is not totally antiseptic. Iraq is no different than Bosnia, Somalia, etc in respect to innocent losses. It was just as tragic then as it is now....and their souls go to the same place all of ours will eventually travel to.....IMHO.

Some people would suggest "an age of accountability" maybe 3 or 4 years of age....others would say "hell"

The Bible offers no hope for those who die in the natural sinful state. The Bible does not say "that children who die go to Heaven", it says those who have accepted Christ as the only saviour of their soul goes to Heaven.

It is a heavy topic that will be answered some day....when you get to Heaven, ask God...."what happens to the young children who died before having the understanding of right and wrong...." See what He says....then if any one else asks you in Hell you will be able to give them the answer.....

I believe in the concept of perfect justice. It could be that we don't have to worry about the soul of the child or adult killed by the missle but, about the soul of the person, persons, society that fired it.

I have a hard time believing that God is on our side as we build this tremendous military and then use it to destroy 100,000 people who had the misfortune to be born into a corrupt system. We may be just a big nation picking on a small nation.

The scary part is that I think Bush believes he is fulfilling devine destiny.

Letter to the President...

OK, OK, I may get the thread shut down for this... but someone sent this to me recently and given the direction the thread has taken I MUST share it with you!

Quote:
LETTER TO PRESIDENT BUSH

Dear President Bush:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have

learned a great deal from you and understand why you would propose and

support a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. As you said

"in the eyes of God marriage is based between a man a woman." I try to share

that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend

the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus

18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination... End of debate. I do need

some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws

and how to follow them.

1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and

female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of

mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you

clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

2. I would like to sell Rachel (my daughter) into slavery, as

sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a

fair price for her?

3. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it

creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is, my

neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

4. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus

35:2. clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to

kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

5. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an

abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I

don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination?

6. Lev.21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I

have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear glasses since my

cataract surgery. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some

wiggle-room here?

7. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the

hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.

19:27. How should they die?

8. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig

makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

9. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two

different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made

of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to

curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the

trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16.

Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do

with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14) I know you have

studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in

such matters, so I am confident you can help.

Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your adoring fan,

/s/ Lew Snow

Roger
I love how this political thread turned religious. How polarized is this nation?

Being from THE red state I am arguably qualified to address Roger's pasted humor and defend God's position. The simple answer is that there is a BIG difference between God's moral and ceremonial laws. The ceremonial law was simply intended to set apart God's people (Jews) from the surrounding nations. Yet the moral laws are timeless truths. With an open mind it's easy to tell the difference as you sift through 600+ laws in the Bible. For example, 10 big ones might come to mind as moral laws.

That being said however, Christians are NOT under the law, but have been freed from the law by Christ's sacrifice which through faith makes a believer right with God. God hates sin, Christ restores our relationship with God. By the way, true Christians don't need the law because they adhere to the most important commandment as stated by their savior: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and you shall love your neighbor like yourself.

That's the biblical, evangelical, red state interpretation

C'mon folks... lighten up. The President is a man of conviction. I don't share his particular flavor of conviction, but I admire his tenacity. Flat-Earthers have strong convictions as well, but strength of conviction alone doesn't necessarily make someone's views right, OR righteous.

Right, wrong or indifferent, we're stuck with this President and his policies for another four years. Let's get over it! Those of us who disagree with this administration will undoubtedly have an opportunity in another four years to fix the percieved wrongs. Those who agree with this administration have four years to prove that the fears and concerns of the rest of us carry are unfounded. The history of the United States is filled with party and personal political battles, civil war, economic depressions, external wars and internal civil unrest and yet the Republic has stood. It may be battered and bruised, but it has stood. It will endure this President as well.

Take heart you blues and reds...the country survived Carter and Clinton....And also survived Nixon and Reagan.
Because of our diversity, our passion for debate, and the Constitutional right to have it, the Union will survive because sum of the Spirit of the People is stronger than the spirit of any one individual leader.....The order in the universe is as it should be.

The Union may survive four more years, but there's a lot of good American men and women stationed in Iraq who won't.

I hope it's all worth it.
