back to GW and apple not falling far from the tree. when visiting the Houston Astrodome his mother Barbara was quoted as saying --

"so many of the people in the arena here -- you know, were underprivileged anyway. This is working very well for them."

My head is spinning...I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I have to admit, I can see where GW gets his speech problems from.......

She could have worded it better.......

personal responsibility

Whether you like him, hate him, want him assasinated
think he's stupid, greedy, has a speech impediment or whatever....

No... "But I didnt inhale" or "Let me make myself REAL CLEAR..I did not have sex with that woman"...or "It depends upon what the meaning of the word is is"

The man steps up to the plate...and simply says "Its my fault...I take responsibility"
The man has a spine. THAT means alot.

Crass as it may sound (that is a matter of taste/tact and therefore irrelevent)
It is a true statement any way you slice it.

stepping in it is better than floating in it.

"a rising tide floats all boats".

If you didnt commit the infraction you dont have to.
Im married once...Ive never cheated...never will.
Its how folks with constitution behave.

They tried every trick in the book to try to squirm outta that one...it was great fun to watch. I especially enjoyed the defense which claimed the man's private life is separate from his work. It just aint so. Sorry. If you're a snake at home it doesnt change after you drive to the office.

The fact that he was having his cigar smoked in the Oval Office destroyed that weak ploy anyway.

Hey I would never claim W is perfect...no doubt he's as flawed as the rest of us. But I do think he actually tries. I also think his wife is a true class act.

But what does that MEAN? Does he pay a fine? Get fired? Go to jail? If he's responsible for all those deaths, does it warrant capital punishment?

I just don't see where anyone should be responsible for my well being except me. I'm sitting on the 8th floor of a building in S.F. right now (I'm here regularly - twice a week). I realize that I'm taking a small risk every time I come down here that there could be an earthquake, and that it could have a significant negative effect on my life - I am responsibility for taking that risk. When the "big one" hits it will create a huge amount of destruction and if I'm sitting where I'm sitting right now I probably won't make it. And if I do, the Mayor, the Govenor and FEMA will have a heck of a time trying to help millions of people . . . There's a good chance that the Mayor will not make it. Arnold is quite the action hero but I don't think those skills will help in this case, and at some point FEMA will show up with Aid of one kind or another . . . again I just don't see how, in my right mind (pun intended), I could think: "this is President Bush's fault, even though all 4 bridges heading into S.F. and the Penisula are destroyed, the airport tarmac looks like an accordian and the ensuing tsunami washed away what was left of my favorite city, George Bush is responsible, it's his fault that they didn't find me until it was too late . . .
