Perhaps I've made my point already.... but we should all hug and sing cume by ya (sp), tow our Airstreams with battery powered trucks, not use nuclear energy, coal, burn any fossil fuels, not eat animals, boycott McDonalds for making us fat, and stick our heads in the sand just like we did before World War 2 until Pearl Harbor.

Not saying America is perfect, but it is what it is and we are who we are....there are choices here, unlike some places.... but I hear North Korea, Iran and China are accepting citizenship applications....though I don't see many people in large numbers to become North Koreans, Iranian or Chinese citizens as they are American citizens....hard to understand why?

Sorry to keep this thread going, but reading the posts just keeps me thinking and wondering...

When I was a kid and got into a neighborhood fight, my mother would always ask me, "Well, why did you kids get into a fight?"

It never mattered who threw the first punch, who started being a bully first, etc. It was always, "Why?"

Well, why are we fighting and sending our country's daughters, sons, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, friends, etc. off to war? For WMDs? For retaliation on 9/11? For our freedom? For their freedom? For Oil? For purely economic interests? Because we can? Because it's our duty?

Why did 9/11 happen? Because of our foreign and economic policies? Because of religious differences? Because we funded Osama for a number of years while he fought the Russians for us during the cold war?

I don't know. All I know is that our government has not given a satisfactory answer to me, and to a whole lot of other people (on both sides, I believe). And while there are many theories and arguments as to why 9/11 occured, I'm not sure which one is really correct. All I have is my opinion, based on all my biases and experiences, and you all have yours.

Which brings me back to thinking about my childhood. When I could not satisfactorily answer my mother's question about why we kid's got into a fight (which was more the norm than the exception), she would tell me,

"Well, maybe it's best not to fight at all then."

Perhaps our country should think about the lessons we learned as a children and apply them to our adulthood. Maybe we would all be a little better off, don't you think?

p.s. I know it's said in a joking matter, but I'm not suggesting that we all hug and sing hymns together. All I'm suggesting is that we THINK and ask why. For some of us, the answers are satisfactory. For others, not. And for some, the answers will hopefully motivate to make a difference in this crazy world of ours.

Am I wrong or have the Forum Rules become rather brief. I find nothing additional in FAQs. The point is that I recall past rules limiting the "bumping" of threads. Yes, I have done it myself once or twice... but not umpteen times as has occurred today on the part of one member. Whether I suggest it is "bumping" or "one last word," it becomes the same thing.

On Airstream Forums I have contributed to and started my share of "Off Topic" threads. My career is hugely dedicated to personnel of the military services. In this thread I have not overtly stated my political opinions or goals. My personal opinion is that this thread has crossed into a very murky realm.

There are certain strong supporters of one position, just as there are opponents. Whether it is politics, religion or intimacy, I would certainly suggest there needs to be a moderation on the part of the moderators lest there be an appearance of bias. And you can bet religion or intimacy would have been cut off long before this. As a forum do we want to see this degree of posting repeated every two years? Every four years? I could suggest some dandy URLs if folks want to do that!

Yes, specific objectional posts can be deleted. Given a galvanizing administration 8, 10, or 15 years in the past or future, would we see equal complacency to let a thread proceed in unlimited fashion?

Then again, the only competitor for "Views" tonight is 2005 Model Year Tracking... ---- but it had an 8 month head start.

Hey I'll have you know that the quality thread has over 12k hits. This thread is only at about 8k and it's in the off topic forum where it's easier to get a rise out of folks and participation. The quality thread should be given a head start if we're gonna compare apples to apples.

I'd rather talk about intimacy, but applaud the mods for lettin' it ride the course the membership feels it should go as long as we all play nice above the belt...then again, thats kind of intimate too above the belt!

This is all crazy talk, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. That's what makes this country great right?

Today's army is 100% volunteer. Today's administration is there because the taxpayers voted them in, so what? Want to make a difference? Enlist our encourage someone else to. Lets all just talk Airstream, forget the politics.

Hey Bob, it's a selfless thing I do here...I mean, I took good views and posts and added them to a different thread than the ones I started.

Boy, what I do for this fourm....I'm feeling the love!

I'd shoot you more karma Bob just for the grin, but it tells me I gotta spread it around...guess I gave you too much Karma this month or somethin'.

Hey, now that was below the belt...we are NOT talking intimacy here!

Only politics and religion.

Nooooo....it wasnt below the belt. This thread is actually engaging and interesting. You know...if there are people here talking about this stuff and having a discussion it isnt reasonable for one person to walk into the room
and tell everyone to knock it off and lets all trade meatloaf recipes instead.
