Good idea.
Or we could just use sling-shots and work in shifts shooting nuggets into South America from our side of the border.

They have more in common than you think. Throw Larry Flynt in there for good measure.

And please, don't we think this thread has gone on long enough? Let's just get out there and go airstreaming, enjoy what life has to offer, instead of ruffling up each others feathers! Life is too short so go out and enjoy!

I'd go along with that..Just keep in mind that the priviledge to do so isnt free.
Lots of men & women have lost their lives to allow us that luxury...we cant allow ourselves to take that for granted.

No one's arguing that. I am a VietNam era Navy vet. I have been involved in law enforcement for thirty years. Some of those folks were friends of mine. Some are names on a tombstone to me, but I appreciate their sacrifice for us.

51% of us believe the President and his party's posturing and conjecture have brought us to an appropriate place. 49% of us think that the facts didn't support his position after 9/11, and still don't. 49% of us think that our resources could be better deployed in a different fashion to achieve better results. Facts would change that perspective. Conjecture, flag waving, and bullying won't. 49% of us don't believe that a two percent victory is a landslide worthy of the term "people's mandate". the President, his staff, and his party do and have said so publicly.

So, folks, let's give it a rest. No one here is going to be bullied or persuaded to change their views either way. Let the folks in Washington do what it is they're supposed to do. If the current administration is right, and the world becomes the safe and democratic place they so fervently believe that we can make it into, I'll be happy to eat crow. If they're as screwed up as the 49% of us believe, then hopefully 5% of the "true believers" will jump ship and we can find and elect an administration that can get us where we need to be.

In any event, it's not going to be settled here in this thread.

Fair enough and well spoken.
Im not a bully and not trying to bully anyone either. I believe in fairness
You should see the number of PM's I've gotten from people here who state
that they stopped saying anything or even getting involved because they feel like when they do they just get plowed under by the mob.
Im not going to get plowed under or stop saying what I really believe...thats all.
I do hope one way or another we get it right...'cause we cant afford not to.
Now, I have to go take care of my yard.

And more power to everyone who exercises our right to freedom of speech!

May I suggest that we not only say what we believe, but act on what we believe. For instance, go out and volunteer/work toward something we believe will better our community, state, nation, or world. If airstreaming is one of them, then let's live by Wally's creeds, stop concentrating on our differences, and start focusing on how the world is becoming a smaller place and together, we can hopefully make it a better place for all. Discussion is useful only to a certain point, but action speaks louder than words.

WB Creed #7: "To play some part in promoting international goodwill and understanding among the peoples of the world through person to person contact"

So caravan, rally, fix up that vintage, or just tour! But by all means, get out there whenever you have a chance! (And just because we are enjoying ourselves does not necessarily mean that we are taking our liberties for granted - in fact, we are probably appreciating ALL that life has to offer - the great outdoors, our freedoms, rekindled comraderie and new friends, the nice technology/feature that allows us to road trip in the lap of luxury, the labor, both foreign and domestic, required to provide that technology/feature, you name it...)

See you outdoors where we belong! Over and out...

One of the super-sensative thread-closing moderatorettes is a regular contributor to this thread

Like John says, as long as people remain respectful of others opinions, it will remain open. That is all we ask for in ANY of the threads.

Ahhhh.....here we go.

True car buffs..eat your heart out.
You probably could have bought this car brand new for $3500
and my understanding is they had a hard time getting rid of them.
AND keep in mind there's a week yet to go.

Oh boy, I thougt this tread would not return, but in forum form, nothing ever goes away, it get fished from the disposal, the ugly parts cleaned up and presented as new.

Bottom line, I support our troops and our President. Period. You can either take the battle to them or you can have what happened in New York happen regularly. I care about those folks in Gitmo, the prisons in Iraq and abroad about as much as they think about me.

...and I own three gas guzzlers paying 2.75/gallon (which by the way has nothing to do with our government as it is a worldwide issue).

Bottom line as I see it, you can hug trees, burn flags and camp out in Crawford until the cows come home. I like the fact that when I wake up in the AM, drive to work, I can still see the Sears Tower and other Chicago landmarks still standing.

By the way Roger...no riots yet!

Nuff said.
