Furthest you've gone to purchase a camper

I went from Cleveland, OH to LA and back to pick up my present trailer around 2400 miles each way. I went the most direct way there and went the southern route home. Get your kicks on Route 66.

3600 miles round trip from Colorado Springs to Colonial Airstream in NJ! Could not be more satisfied with Colonial from bottom-line cost, to handling warrantee issues, to providing ongoing answers to our questions. Our 2 year warranty just expired, but will continue to contact them as needed .

Northern Indiana to Lubbock Texas. Planned on a 2242 miles round trip, but since we were that far south we went further south into New Mexico and then North to the Grand Canyon before heading back home via Colorado, Kansas, Illinois and of course Indiana.

Thousand miles round-trip driven to pick our Sport up. Another thousand mile round-trip for warranty work. We just make it part of our airstream experience. However the experience we had with our airstream dealer was excellent and have no regret driving the distance.

1200 miles (one way) Phoenix, AZ to Houston, TX but I did not drive it. I flew there to buy it then paid a UShip company to tow it here.

How Far!!

About six miles. Was located in the back lot. I new it was there for about 6 months. The owner didn't want to sell. But then again they never used it. I would stop to talk a couple times a month. Finally wore them down and finalized the deal. 1967, 22-ft Safari Twin.

Just purchased a new to us 1996 34ft excella and we drove about 500 miles round trip this past weekend.

My previous 1991 34ft we made a 700 mile round trip to get it.

Always fun to adventure

After looking at some of these stories I feel like I hardly traveled at all.

After our original Airstream (1981 31' Excella) was destroyed when my workshop caught on fire we were more worried about replacing the trailer than the workshop. Eight days after the fire my wife found one at a dealer in Hudson, FL. The next day I flew down and purchased it. Two weeks later I took my truck down by auto train. I parked it at the airport in Tampa and came home. A week later I flew down and was at the dealer in the morning when their gates opened. Two days and 907 miles later I was home with our 1993 34' Excella.

B190: ~360 miles, but I went to look at it once, then a second trip to buy it and drive it home.

Trailer: ~560 miles. Some friends in the club put us up overnight at their house on the pickup trip.

Our first purchase (Argosy) was about 30 miles away. We were originally looking at a Tradewind that the PO had gutted but wound up with the Argosy. Later that summer we (re)found the Sovereign about 3 miles away (after the PO cut the price by 1/3). We have brought them both from MI to CO after we moved here 3 years ago. Since neither had had much work done to them they were more like recovery trips than anything else. (Side note: having done it now with both of our girls I am less apprehensive about a LD recovery than I would've been a few years ago.
