Wayneskid, check out the thread "The Journey" it is both fascinating and entertaining. You will however, need a case (wine, beer, it doesn't matter) since the thread is thousands of post long.

Shots from my trip in March

First it was on a non maintained road! Lots of mud! Lots of snow and then ICE! the last shot is when I got home. I never wanted a martini more in my life! Thats what I get for buying in the winter but what a great deal! I love it and it was worth all the miles and white knucles.

blmitch5,

I agree! Had the same experience. Picked up the coach in light snow, then heavier snow for 200 miles.
After 900+- miles, got home in the dark and had 1/2 mile of steep down hill snow pack and ice to our road. Wondered if I could hit the hard right to my road at the bottom of the hill!

I wasn't planning on a such a education in towing a new vehicle when I agreed to pick it up mid Jan in Buffalo! (But the price was right)

Really made me appreciate Lexus (Toyota) auto 4wd and locking diff.

All ended well. Actually, being very cautious and cognizant of the potential for embarrassment, or disaster, got us home safe.

I must add, that it's either the Hensley Arrow or the Airstream,or both, that made this trip safe. I haven't towed anything quite this heavy (but almost) in truck traffic. Usually, I'd hear a truck approaching before I would feel a slight push. Nothing more than I feel towing my 10' cargo trailer.

Last summer I Found a34ft Limited {anniv} in Mesa Arizona That said, come and take me home!!! As we live in Michigan and winter in Florida a plan was in the making. So, Taking a 3/4 ton RV van, We proceeded West and turned South. In late July it was 114 degrees when we got there . We left at three in the morning heading East on I-10 going to Florida, upon arrival we replaced the 29ft with the new,to us, Silver teenager. We had sold the 29ft Silver old-enough-to-vote!!! to P&S in Ohio for a customer of thiers, and agreed to pull it North to them. Then, back to Michigan. Total 5600 miles. Would I do it again? In a heart beat, would I buy from that Dealer again. never. Trailer was worth the trip, service was disgusting and way over-priced.

Aviator, the beverage for this will be the easy part. Finding the time is a whole other matter. Looks like it would be a kick thought!

Will Travel For Airstream

I travelled a mere 285 miles from Centerville, Ohio to Greensburg, Pennsylvania to pick up my baby! I am closer to Jackson Center than Airstream of Western PA. However, there are no Ohio dealerships and the trip was well worth it. I would travel across the country to pick it up. That is the point right? We all like roadtrips!

I just received the Authorized dealers list dated 5/5/10; it shows 2 dealers in Ohio:
  • Sirpilla RV in Akron does trailers only
  • Arbogast Buick/Pontiac in Troy does coaches only

The last dealer to Alaska the way we are going is in Alberta—we leave in a couple of days. Are there any RV stores you can recommend in Alaska if we have a problem?

We did it.

Well, we just finished our trip from Camarillo, CA to Mobile, AL to pickup our 2007 23ft Airstream. The was a trip we will remember forever. We did it in 4 1/2 days. I've towed box trailers and fivers before, but this thing towed like a dream. Kinda like everybody said it would.
'Course when I got home I had to wash 8 states worth of bugs off of it. But she cleaned up perty!
Let the camping begin!

Very nice! Congrats on a beautiful FC! I drove for KC to Williamsburg and didn't have one bug, I did however have a thick coat of ice on her! Worth every white knucle mile! Have fun and post pics from your maiden voyage.

Thank you. We went about 4200 miles on that trip. 4 1/2 days. I'm still recovering.
I am also still sitting here staring at the AS and can't believe I finally own one.
Our maiden trip is in about 2 weeks up the coast.
