Friday the 13th

Today is the day; and I`m not going anywhere today.
I do not believe in good or bad luck, but today Murphy reigns supreme.

Winter is here

To add insult to injury, my world is covered this morning with a thin layer of sleet. Tonight, snow is expected; fortunately, not a lot. Today and tomorrow is probably the extent of our "winter".

Sure blew away my intentions to use the trailer this week.

Okay, I gotta rub it in. It was sunny and 82 here today. Our friend Murphy had some fun with me earlier, but nothing a long hot shower and some Tylenol won't fix.

I love Friday the 13th!!

Actually 13 is my lucky number!!

My apartment # was 1313 when I landed the best job of my career.

I met my daughter's mother on a Friday the 13th!

Not exactly Airstream related, but....

I was advertising to sell a 86 Astro with some "rod knock....drivable, but for how long?" A mechanic wanted to see it, for rebuilding (body was great). Just two miles (and on the freeway) from our meeting place, the engine blew....quite spectacturely if I may say (sounded like a firework launching) with much oil spread on my wife's van who was following me. Oh well, he still did buy it, but at a discount.
Funny thing, the whole way to the meeting place, I was worried if he would get home, and I was feeling very guilty (although I told him this might be the case). I'm relieved that he knows what he bought (AS IS). and yes, I did think about the date!

Well, since somebody else went there... My little experience had to do with the parking brake on a large truck, with hydro-electric parking brakes. I had to remove a part of this unit, and loosened the bleeder valve, so I didn't get hydraulic oil all over the place. Nothing came out when I opened the valve, and since that is what it was in for, I went ahead and took off the line. Turned out the bleeder was clogged, and there was PLENTY of pressure in the system. Liberally dousing me, the truck, and the side of the building. It is kind of funny, because I was between the truck and the building, now there is a large silhouette of me, outlined in hydraulic oil. Guess what I will be doing tomorrow...

A different 13th

The 13th brought the first signifigant snow in Austin since 1988. Started at about 10pm last night and we had about 3" where I live on a hilltop SW of Austin.

The TV is a littany of car wrecks this morning. No one here knows how to drive in weather like this. Folks who have lived in the north, like me, just stay home and let them play bumper cars.

Photo isn't very bright. I took it at 7:15 am with low clouds still overhead.

John, I know it is cold and miserable, but it still looks purty.

John,
Really beautiful pix! You live in a great part of our Great Lone Star State.
Here in Southern Brazoria County, don't think we have hit the freezing mark yet.

Went to the RV Show in Houston yesterday, lots of SOB's sold, but NO dealer of Airstreams/Argosy brought their wares.

Thanks, folks

The Texas Hill Country is a fine place to live and I am really fortunate to have an acre and a half on top if a hill with lots of trees and a great view.
